Re: dark view in view finder

Sounds like a lens diaphragm problem ( lens stays closed down to F16 and that is why you have a dark viewfinder ). Remove lens and see if you can activate the aperture mechanism via the activator which protrudes from the rear of the lens. You should get nice and brisk action from the aperture . If the movement is sluggish or the lens stays fully closed then your lens needs attention.

I put new batteries in my Nikon n75 and it keeps coming up with a EEE messge. There is no film in the camera though

I think it's saying "FEE". If so, turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest opening (largest f/number) and lock it. You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same was as on a lens without an aperture ring.

My Nikon N75 says error and there is a flashing circle with a dot in the middle when i look through the lens.... What does this mean?!

If the LCD panel shows "E" then the film isn't loaded properly. If the LCD panel shows "ERR" and "E" blinking, then the film is not correctly advanced. If the LCD panel shows a blinking "E" when the exposure meter is turned on, then film remains in the camera after it has been rewound. In all cases, reload film.

If it's not one of those cases, or if the problem persists, please reply to this post giving further details.

I am confused. Is the N 75 an SLR or 35 mm. My daughter needs a 35 mm for a photography course. She has an N 75.

Both. The Nikon N75 is a 35mm SLR camera. 35mm refers to the size of the film the camera uses. SLR (single-lens-reflex) refers to the design of the camera, which uses the same lens for both viewing and photographing, the film sees the same image you see in the viewfinder.

There are other 35mm cameras that are not SLRs. Likewise, there are SLRs that use other sizes of film.

Just put new batteries in. No film. I looked at the view finder and snapped a pic then the screen went black. I took the lens off and the mirror is sideways.

You have two main possibilities. The new batteries are incorrectly inserted or the batteries are faulty.

If not those, then it's a camera fault (it's definitely faulty if the mirror is actually sideways and not merely halfway up) and as you can get N75's for free these days (my last two have been boxed and nearly unused from FreeCycle) then it's simply uneconomical to repair it unless the mirror can simply be removed and correctly re-fastened. Spare parts availability is already very poor for the n75.

New film is being rewound and the viewfinder is blank

The rewind switch is stuck. You will need to replace it or remove & clean it. replacing it is easier to do than tearing apart for they break so easily

Err message on Nikon 75 after taking a picture

Here's a link to the N75 / F75 user guide. The troubleshooting section / lens compatibility area might point to the problem. If the viewfinder is dark, the mirror is likely stuck in the UP position. This is usually due to a lens compatibilty issue, or the fact that the lens is not set to its smallest aperture (ie 22). The camera needs that to control the full range of aperture openings
