Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My Brother MFC620 CN displays the ''no cartridge'' diagnostic or ?Black cartridge is empty ? even after I install a full new black ink cartridge. And the ink level readings on the color cartridges are displayed as low ( 1 square out of a possible 7 ) even with relatively new color cartridges. What?s the problem ? This unit is just getting more cranky with each passing month. It is 3 and 1/2 years old. I print about 1000 pages a year maximum. Is it time to junk this unit and buy another Multifunction unit ? What brand would you recommend ? Best regards, Phil J-R Anaheim, CA 92808 Phone & fax: 714.281.6127 Cell: 714.747.0163

Hope you are using the original cartridge recommended for the printer.
Take the cartridge out and clean it with little alcohol and cotton. Clean both the cartridge head and the carrier. Reinstall the ink back try printing.

Let me know what happen..

No Cartridges. Open Scanner cover, then reinstall ink cartridge. All Cartridges are full

Hi there,
No Cartridge will show on the display if the machine cannot recognize one of the cartridge or one of the ink is empty.
To make sure about the real issue unplug the mach from the power outlet then plug it back in after 10 seconds.
If the display show: "ink empty C" it means the cyan/blue needs to be replace. "ink empty M" it means the magenta/pink needs to be replace. "ink empty BK" it means that the black needs to replace. If the display shows "ink empty Y" it means that yellow needs to be replace.
Even if it looks like the cartridge is full, it really needs to be replace so that the machine will work again.
Hope this helps. Rate if it works. Thanks

Near empty black is displayed even with new black cartridge

If you replaced an ink cartridge while Near Empty was displayed on the LCD, the LCD may ask you to verify that it was
a brand new one. Example: Did You Change Blck? 1.Yes 2.No. For each new cartridge you installed, press 1 on the dial
pad to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, please be sure to select 2.
WARNING
If ink gets in your eyes, irrigate them with water immediately and call a doctor if you are concerned.
If you wait until Ink Empty message is displayed on the LCD, the machine will automatically reset the ink dot counter.
If the Install message is on the display after you have installed ink cartridges, check that the ink cartridges are
installed properly.

Printer wont print black.already replaced with new ink but still wont print black

did you take the tape off the new cartridge and is the print head burned out for the black? if you installed the diagnostic's on it then run it and see what it says, otherwise expect the print head to be cooked, however it is possible to get a bad ink cartridge try tapping it on your finger and see if ink comes out if it does not then the ink cartridge is dried out or no good, about %15 of print cartridges are bad on just about any brand printer some more than others.

No cartridge the printer say. i put new cartridge in

It mean that the black cartridge is not recognised. It the black cart is original or compatible? Some printer won't recognise cartridge, if the black and colour is not same type. Try to install the black only. Is it recognised?

Brother printer MFC 420 CN

I wouldn't be surprised. Since you're going to need black ink eventually anyway, put in a new black cartridge and find out.
