Question about Computers & Internet
My gateway M465-E laptop kept freezing up. I checked everything and decided to re-flash the bios. while the bios was being flashed, it froze up, so i turned it off... now, it comes briefly on and then shuts down, over and over as in a loop. I have tried removing the battery and pressing the power button to drain the power so that the Bios would revert to the old one, but nothing makes any difference. It still reboots itself in a loop once the power is on. I tried to contact gateway support, but they say its a business laptop and send me to MPC (the business support side) which just filed for bankrupcy...so my laptop warranty is no good... any suggestions?
Grab a DVMM and test the coin cell it may be bad either that if your MOBO is eating coin cells like candy the board is bad. try to locate a jumper and a pair of needle nose pliers, and check the documentation there should be a jumper that turns on and off the BIOS battery some may advise to go JP1 to JP 2 or some other config to discharge a BIOS .
hope this helps. IT Grad Electronics School
