My mouse does not move smoothly and I have to use a lot of extra motion. Tried alcohol to clean it. It's a logitech model M-BA47

If you remove the ball, look inside there are 2 white rollers(they may ba a different color) that touch the ball as it moves, there will be build up of gunk on them from the ball, use an exacto knife or something small to scrape the stuff off of them.

MOUSE

If the motion is completely inverted, look around for some unknown utility (e.g. using AnVir Task Manager Free ) that's doing this unliked job for you.  If it's just kind of not moving right, take out the ball and clean the -rollers- the ball goes up against which are exposed by removing the ball...use a fingernail or nail file or something to get it back to being a smooth rod, or buy an optical mouse already!  Mice can eventually go bad because the IR emitters and receivers inside get jammed with dust; so if it's moving only 1 pixel at a time if at all, you can carefully clean it out with compressed air.  The electronics can go bad, too, oddly enough.  So it's possible you need a new one.

Logitech Trackman Marble T-CH11

I clean my marble with a mild dish soap. Dry. Then spray the ball with Pledge or some other furniture polish. Let dry for a few minutes and then polish with a lint free cloth. I have to do mine every 6 months or so. When cleaning the contacts I only use a small paintbrush. If you get alcohol on the sensory window, although using a q-tip, you can still scratch the surface.

Good Luck...
