Cd player does not work

The laser pickup is at the end of life, try a cd cleaning kit sometimes brings it back to life, if this fails! it is far cheaper to replace the stereo unit.

I have an old Kenwood that has CD, Phono and 2 vidio hook-ups. I suspect the "video" means a VHS tape player, will my DVD player work.on this unit.

You could have named the model to make this easier.

"PHONO" is the only designated connection on an audio device that is literal and exclusive. Nothing but PHONO will work right on it and old-school turntables would require it to preamplify and frequency-correct the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge. Look up RIAA equalization.

All other analog stereo IN's and Outs are Line Level and GENERIC, meaning anything BUT PHONO, regardless of what the silk-screened labels say. So, yes, your DVD player's analog audio should work.

How do you fix a cd player on a stereo

Usually fixing CD players on stereoare quite simple and depends on the stereo in question. First you have to check if the stereo has a space for auxiliary port at the back it is usually denoted by AUX if it doesthen the operation is possible. All you have to do is get one of two types of cables depending on what type of CD player. If it is a walkman then you get the cable with Single 3mm earphone jacks to double av. If on the other hand the cd player has the av jack output then you get the normal av cable. connect from the output of cd player to aux of stereo then change the stereo function to aux.
hope this solution has been helpful?

Fisher 143a CD Changer

You wont be able to play any new format CDs on an old Fisher or any other older make . It 's the internal decoder logic that's needed. And older players dont have it.
As far as top-loaders..Do a websearch . I dont know of any.

Dvd wont play in mini hi fi system

First, you should never use commercial cleaners on CDs or cassette heads. They can create more problems than cures.
Unit may have bad disk motor or optical pick-up

Stereo problems

I would have to say that both of these sound as though they are probably beyond economical repair.

With the first unit you mention, either the panel with the switches on needs replacing or the logic (the brain inside) is on it's way out.

On the other system, either the lenses need cleaning or the lasers are on the way out for both MD & CD. You can try cleaning the lenses first, it might help.

What I would very much recommend in the future is to get a system made of seperates. Then, if one source goes down, you're not left with no music while it's being serviced. If you go to Richer Sounds they'll give you a part-exchange allowance for your old hi-fi(s) and if you buy the warranty & never use it they will give you 100% of your money back. Every one's a winner!

Home Stereo System

Sounds like a internal error on the amp itself. Maybe it caught a surge, I had a stereo unit that got zapped by the way it was unplugged from the wall.
