Question about Xerox WorkCentre XE80 Laser Printer
I get an E2 error but the paper feeds past the laser cartridge and then tries to go through the space above the drum and that is where it stops. I can use paper 5 in wide or envelopes and all is well. I think there may be a small piece of paper stuck under the left side output but I cannot see anything. I need help in how to get it out or get into this section to check it out. It appears to get stuck between the output roller and the secondary cartridge. When I remove the paper from the back it has a uniform soft fold across the leading end of the paper about 1 in wide for the full width. Richard

Try this procedure.
Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.

SOURCE: paper folds and jams before
your description points to a fuser assembly problem which is right where you looked. I'm not sure what that plastic piece is from. if it is black, it probably came from the fuser. That is a replaceable part, but I'm not sure you can still purchase them from Xerox.

I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: Paper Jam E2 error
On this model, the fuser assembley is mounted to the machine mounts, two of them inboard and outboard.
If the fuser gear is not cracked, this fuser is driven by the white small drive gear on the machine.
This rests close the drive gear. Sometimes you can hear a thumping noise which is coming from the gear skipping over the fuser gear.
This gear needs to be replaced a very involved service process.
Call Xerox for further repair if this is the case. Also behind this gear are many other gears that can cause this same problem. Very involved and time-extensive to repair even for a trained Xerox technition.

Tips for a great answer:
Aug 12, 2011 | Canon PIXMA MP150 All-In-One InkJet...
Start a print from tray 1/manual feed and just as the trailing edge of paper is entering the machine; quickly open it to stop print and take out the cartridge and look at the drum and the paper underneath. If the issue is there at that point then it would point to the cartridge. If not then it is in the fuser area.
