Question about Brother GX-6750 Typewriter

Carrier stays to the left

When I turn the typewriter on, the carrier just moves to the extreme left and stays there (slight grinding noise). Then it starts beeping. And all I can do when it beeps is to turn it off. What can I do to fix this problem? Please help.

Look inside the machine and make sure nothing has fallen into it that may be blocking the carriage from reaching it's "home" position. Sometimes a lift off spool will fall off and do that.

Try some WD40 on the silver shafts that the carrier slides on they do get very gummy.

Carrier slides to the left and stays there, buzzing. After a minute or so, it beeps. Then stops altogether.

Check for debris in the carrier area that interfear with the movement, turn it off and move it by hand. Try a little WD40 on the silver shaft it slides on.

Brand new typewriter. Set up according to

When turned on the carrier must move to the left side frame, where it seneses the LEFT limit, then moves towards the right and parks at the Left Margin Position. Your problem sounds like something is interfering with the carrier movement to the LEFT limit (could be packaging). Turn the power OFF. Manually move the carrier to the RHGHT. Look inside the machine on the left side to check for foreign materials. Also check that the ribbon, correction lift-off tape, and printwheel are installed properly. GOOD LUCK!

Print head moves left and stays horrible noise

The problem is either something is interfering with the carrier movement OR the carrier homing sensor is broken/defective. First, turn off the power and manually move the carrier to the right side frame, check for foreign objects in the machine (pens, pushpins, paper clips etc.). Put some oil (10 weight) on a cloth and clean the chrome shaft that the carrier travels on.(by the rubber cogged belt). This is a common problem. If the sensor itself is the problem, take to a repair shop.(not common)

Will the carrier move yo the rt. with power off ? Try a little WD40 on the silver shaft that runs thru the carrier. Look for foreign objects and debris inside the t/w.

Typewriter won't return carriage

try wiping the large bar that runs left to right under the carrier with a cloth wet with a light oil and then move the carrier by hand to see if it will free up. Be sure the typewriter is turned off.
