SOURCE: HCD-XG500 it says push power protect

Power protect tends to mean the main power amp chip has "blown" and needs to be replaced. It only costs about 20 dollars (10GBP). If you are handy with a soldering iron it is easy to do (after you get the thing to bits !) It is the big black thing on the big heatsink inside. The Sony part number is STK442 - 130. Seems a waste to throw the whole thing away for the sake of 10 pounds !. Hope this helps. Nik Howell ([email protected])

SOURCE: sony self lbt-lx5o push power portect comes on how to resolve the problem

Likely a problem with the amp. Buy a new one and don't run it on full power for too long. Mine got shagged when I had a party and maxed it out for 2 hours.

Read it could be excessive solder on the amp circuit heating up too much then obviously not working after it cools since the connection is messed up when the solder changes shape.

SOURCE: Sony LBT W5000

According to Page 46 of the LBT-W5000 Operating Instructions:
"The display stars flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you haven't turned on the system (demonstration mode).
Press DISPLAY (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500) or DEMO (STANDBY) (for other models) while the system is off. If the system is in the Power Saving mode, press POWER SAVE / DEMO (STANDBY) (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500). The demonstration appears automatically the first time you plug in the power cord, or if there is a power outage lasting longer than half a day."
I tested this today, as my LBT-W5000 was in Demonstration Mode. It definitely works. The only catch is (at least on the W5000), and it's a minor one, you have to reset your clock afterwards.

My Sony home system keeps saying PUSH POWER PROTECT... (no speakers are hooked up,but did it when there where)

more than likely you have a Shorted Amplifier inside the unit which will require you send it into sony for repairs.

I have sony LBT-XG900Av. The volume knob wont adjust volume. Even when using remote you cant adjust volume. Its just on loud

I think the problem will be somekind of audio IC that controls volume and other aspects of the sound has failed. Not a job for an amateur to fix as it will almost certainly involve the desoldering and refitting of multi-pin microchip. I would take it to your nearest Sony Service center.

My Sony Home Theater system DAV HDX975WF keeps flashing "Push Power Protection". There is no audio and in calling Sony their support dept can't help me. They say it could be frayed or broken wires to the...

MHC-DP900D HAD SAME PROBLEM- PROTECT, PUSH POWER. TRACED CAUSE TO AMP. DC PROTECTION CIRCUIT ON AMPLIFIER BOARD. ACTUAL FAULT WAS A SHORT CIRCUIT OF THE AMP. IC LEFT CHANNEL OUPUTS (STK412-030 PINS 10 & 11)
EXCESSIVE SOLDER APPLIED DURING MANUFACTURE HAD PROBABLY BEEN HEATED UP ENOUGH DURING USAGE TO BRIDGE THE PINS. CURRENTLY USING THE UNIT WITH RIGHT CHANNEL ONLY UNTIL I PURCHASE A NEW IC. BYPASSED DC PROTECTION FOR LEFT CHANNEL BY ISOLATING INPUT TO DC DETECT TRANSISTOR.
This is what I could find, it looks like it will need serviceing unless you can do it yourself, it can be deadly if you don't know exactly what you are doing.
Thanks for the fixya rating, hope this helps
