1 Answer

Why won't a brand new stitch D card work in Viking Quilt Designer? Just makes nosie, will not do stitch. Other cards working fine.

All the d cards I have (A1, E1, E2, N1, L1) work except for the new one (K2). The machine makes a nosie but it won't let me choose a stitch from the K card. The display shows the orginal straight stitch. If I put one of the other cards in, I can chose any stitch and it will work.

    Hi Rachel,

I just tried both stitches and they work fine.

  • weber69 Apr 20, 2009

Sorry Radcal for calling you Rachel. It was a typo.

  • weber69 Apr 27, 2009

I am taking the card back. Thanks for your suggestions and help.

  • weber69 May 07, 2009

I had the card tested and it is fine. The problem seems to be my machine requires an undate to read the K2 card. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

  • weber69 May 09, 2009

The card is fine. It appears the problem is my machine requires an update to read it. Thanks for the help though.

    To Radcal,
Thanks for the corporate background info. Husqvarna dirt bikes were their first products to make it to this market (southeastern US) about 30 years ago, just in time to compete with the rice burners and the AMF/Harley abominations. Next thing someone will tell me that Hyundai makes earth moving equipment...hey, wait a minute....

Info for penomik, Husqvarna started building sewing machines in 1872. What many people think represents a crown in the logo is actually a gun site as the company has also made cannon and firearms for many years.
Now for the machine problem, when the machine makes noise with the questionable card, is it making any kind of stitching motion at all? Does it sew in place? What card is malfunctioning and which ones do you have that work normally? I am wondering if the card that doesn't work requires your feed assembly to move in a different direction such as Omnimotion where the teeth need to move sideways. This could malfunction where a regular width stitch is ok. Let me know which card doesn't work and which ones do.

Husqvarna makes sewing machines??? I thought they only made chain saws, weed whackers, and dirt bikes. I don't know much about sewing machines, but I do know a bit about program cards. Check the card for any stray bits blocking the holes or tabs, and check where the card goes for any foreign objects. If neither of those turn out to be the source, take the card back to where you got it and compare to another D card. If there are no defects on your card, you may need to take it into the shop.

Stick with me and I'll see what I can find out.
In the mean time, verify that you are able to do card E1 stitch 24 and card E2 stitch 27. I think you can, but let me know.

    I'm still checking on it.

  • radcal Apr 23, 2009

I believe that you may have a damaged card. You should take it back to the dealer where it was purchased and ask them to test it for you.

  • radcal May 12, 2009

Sorry about that. Forgot to ask about the update.

Does the husqvarna viking quilt designer 11 sew straight stitches without using a card?

It is possible but it will only sew a straight stitch (more than likely a 2.5MM stitch length which is a common/standard length for straight stitching.

My husqvarna designer 1 keypad doesnt work

It could be the Touch Screen. If it is a Designer 1. If it is a Designer II or Quilt Designer or #1 it could be the Dcard. Recommend it be checked by an Authorized Viking Dealer. You can find the nearest dealer from the Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us Click on the link Locate a Dealer.

I had this same problem, on my Designer Diamond. I blew it out with an air can and that didn't work, but then I decided to turn it off, then back on and start sewing a line in reverse. That seemed to fix it. My machine is working fine now.

Viking Designer 2 stitch card and embroidery problems

Interesting. It may be that the "chip" in the machine itself needs to be replaced. This is not a hard task but has to be done by an authorized service technician plus the part has to be ordered from Viking and only authorized dealers can order parts. You might clean the contact points with a pencil eraser but be sure to remove any particles left before inserting it into the machine. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Free motion quilting Viking Designer 1

I had the same dissatisfaction when I switched from the 1+ to the Designer 1. After some trials I am now happy. You need the springy free motion foot. Part #413 03 76-45. You take off the white shank and screw it on with the metal bar over the needle hook. In the set menu turn the SensorQ on, the free motion on, select stitch 1 from menu V and drop the feed dogs. It also makes a big difference to use the straight stitch throat plate which just has a small hole for the needle to go through. One other hint is that I often have to reduce my needle tension 3 or 4 steps. Hope it works for you.
