Question about Kitchen Ranges

3 Answers

I have an Kenmore electric range model 790.93751103 and the oven was used tonight and was not able to turn it off. Had to turn off the breaker. After cooling, turn the breaker back on and oven stayed off. Set the oven temp to 200* to see what would happen and it went over 450* and rising before shut the breaker off again. The range was bought 2/8/2003... What could the problem be? Is it worth fixing? Thanks for the help, Jim S

Thanks but I would like further information than "just a bad circuit board" on the Kenmore Electric range oven not shutting down....

  • JWSi Apr 16, 2009

If were the thermostat, the oven would still shut down normally. In this case, it will not shut off until the circuit breaker is turned off. Then it will only restart if oven turn on and then overheats....

I BELIEVE FOR UR MODEL.... THERE SHUD BE A ERROR CODE.... LIKE F1 , F2 AND SO ON....
FROM WHAT I CUD GATHER FROM UR POST....

THE CAUSE OF UR PROBLEM IS THE FAILURE OF THE OVEN TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT....

WITH REGARD TO UR OVEN NOT TURNING OFF... try shtting the breaker, count to 10 and turn it back on
this should reset it
if it is an electronic control the relay on the ERC is stuck and you will need a new ERC (electronic range control).
If it is a mechanical control, check making sure the element isnt shorted to ground any where....

THANK YOU HOPE I WAS HELPFUL HAVE A NICE DAY

Your darn tootin its worth fixin.
What you need is a new therostate, good example of a bad thermostat. Sears have a great parts dept. They may be able to tell you how to put it in your self. They have told me a lot of stuff. good luck DFD

This problem is caused if the control board is shorted.

Also
Sometimes shutting off the circuit breaker that the range or oven is connected to for 30 seconds will clear the fault, error or function code.

Also
F3 or F30 means that there may be a problem with the oven sensor.
Your oven sensor may need to be replaced.

My Kennmore 79363 Gas Range/ Electric Oven electrical doesn't work. Started smelling electrical burning smell, tracked to oven. shut off breaker, smell stoped. Few hours later checked again after...

The person who installed the oven didn't do the connections up tight enough.
I would replace the breaker/power switch with a new one and trim back the wires if the burning is in the breaker. If on the rear of the oven, same applies with badly tightened connections.
If in doubt, call a qualified electrician. That will be better than having a fire!

Correct wire gauge and circuit breaker to use?

If it is only the oven that is electric and not the entire stove, the required wire size is 10/3 with ground and a 30AMP circuit breaker. If it is the entire stove then you need 50AMP range cable and a 50AMP breaker. If your doing your microwave also, you need a 20AMP breaker and the wire you need is 12/2 with ground.. If the current breaker you were running was 30AMP I would keep that for your oven and run new wire for your microwave.

My kenmore electronic stove is having a beep with code F1 on the

Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacment of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal checksum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kenmore Electric Range

F1 Stuck touch pad Usually means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be cancelled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.
