We have the same problem- over the past several weeks the noise got louder and lasted longer. This morning we tried to turn it on the blue light came on but no picture - then we couldn't turn it off so I unplugged it!!
I could really use some help. Both my husband and I are out of work so we can not afford an $$$$ to fix.
    Thanks S

I suspect you have a bad set of capacitors in the control module. This problem usually starts out as a high pitched noise but can lead to the TV not turning on. Please see the link below, posted by StivO. It gives step by step instructions on how to replace the capacitors. This is a very inexpensive fix.

I called the Polaroid company and they decided that my control panel needs to be changed and the cost is 225.00 total. They ordered the part and had it shipped here to my home and now they are suppose to send someone out to change that for me so if it works then I guess that is cheaper than having to buy a new TV.I will let you know later if it works!

We have a Polaroid TV, Model FLM3732. When we turn the TV on, there is a loud pitching noise that lasts for 3-5 minutes, and then goes off and runs normally. Is there anything we can do to trouble shoot?

The high pitch you are hearing is probably due to failing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply module. Eventually this will no longer function. A tell tale sign would be swollen caps "tops are convex" on this pc board usually 1000mf 25 v caps or simular. I would refer to competent tech for repair of module to component level.

5. Humming or high pitch noise heard through speakers or at the back of the TV.

High pitched noise

I am about to post a in depth guide about how to fix this problem. It's because a capacitor inside the TV has blown which causes the buzzing high pitched noise. It's really easy to fix however and only costs about £1 / $2 to sort out.

You can read a similar guide here http://www.fixya.com/support/r741402-polaroid_flm_373b_lcd_tv_black_screen but I will shortly be uploading a guide on the buzzing problem!

High pitched noise on Polaroid HDTV

It appears like your power supply is not filtering the voltage properly and that is why you are hearing that high pitched noise. If your LCD is less then a year old, you can call Polaroid to have it repair under warranty.
If more then a year old, check the info from this link to replace the capacitors.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

High pitched noise

The power supply is starting to fail on your LCD. The noise you hear is because the circuit is trying to provide the proper power to the rest of the circuitry and is forcing itself.
The noise does increase if you tune to an HD channel because of more demand for power for a brighter picture.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
