Single black line runs from the top to the bottom, about an inch in from the left side of the paper. What can I do to get rid of it?

Check and see if the black line is on the drum! you will need to drop down the transport assembly then with a flashlight look at the drum to see if the black line is in the same position as on the page. If you see the line on the drum you will have to replace the drum blade! you may want to try and flip the blade before trying to buy one! you will need to make sure that the developer is cammed away from the drum before removing the drum if you try to pull the drum out without camming the developer you will scratch the drum!

Black line on left side of paper

I forget the terminology but I believe there's either dirt or a sheet of paper on an internal roller.

Black lines going straight across paper. 1 every inch down

If the streaks are narrow black and run the entire length of the page, replace the soft plastic wiper blade on the drum (and hope the drum is not scratched). Black smudges are related to the toner/developer purity. Replace both.

When you print each page has a gray/black line running down the page from top to bottom about 2.5 inches from the edge of the paper. Sometimes it is darker and other times it is lighter. We have tried...

While the line is showing up on the output pages.
Stop printing and put paper in the manual feed tray (tray 1).
Start printing again. As a page gets pulled into the printer about 1/2 way open the top cover.
Pull out the toner and look at the page inside the printer. If it doesn't have the grey/black line, get the fuser replaced. It is defective.

Is it From top to bottom? if it is, clean the optics unit, its lens array and mirrors.

Canon 6216 copier produces black lines from top to bottom of page

Do the lines appear when you place a blank piece of paper on the glass and make a copy??If not then you need to thoroughly clean the **** glass, that is the separate narrow glass to the left of the machine when the top is up.Even a tiny dot of dust will appear as a vertival line on the copy.

Before doing anything more drastic, I would try this.. let us know how it turns out.. if it doesn't work, we'll go from there.
