I have had my fridge for 3 years and for some reason after I changed the filter about a year ago the water comes out very slowly. I have changed the filter every 6 months since and it still is acting the same.It takes about a minute to fill a 8 oz cup. What may be the problem be?

Re: Water is really slow
It was good before you changed that first filter? if so you probably got something in the line. from removing filter like part of oring or something and its now in your line from filter. try turning water off and break open water line before filter and see how well it poors there into a bucket or something and work your way down to the dispenser.

If it has only been one year, check the warranty. Who said that it needed to be replaced? Oftentimes, a repairman can adjust the pressure to increase the outflow without needing to replace the whole unit.

Those filters are for refrigerators that have heavily treated water in the household. You could have a filter that filters your water supply and not use the filter inside the frig. Why use both? Now, if your home is not filtered, you may need it. Check to see if the water supply line is crimped somewhere or frozen when it gets inside the frig.
Hi .. first I would try and eliminate the filter as the problem. Remove the filter and try the water again. If the water flows strong, then the filter is the problem. If the water stills sputters and is low flow, then there is a partial blockage in the internal tubing , or a problem with the supply. If you roll the fridge out to get at the suppl. you could shut it off and disconnect the supply tube from the fridge, then turn the water on slowly to check the flow at the supply. If the flow is good there , then the blockage is internal.
You should change out the water valve on your refrigerator. The filter shouldn't make any difference on the flow. We have parts and supplies for Electrolux, so call us with your model number and we'll be sure to get the correct water valve out to you right away!
The water does come out slow on these models. I know you said you replaced your filter with a new one and it is still not any faster.
I own a Kenmore Elite #596 73503 201. I have not changed my filter for approximately 18 months and when I timed how long it took to fill a 2 Cup measuring cup (liquid measure) it took: less than 45 seconds. Can you test yours and post back how long it takes with your fridge?
We just got rid of our 26 year old Kenmore for this reason. In 26 years I used a hair dryer to thaw out a tube toward the back of the refrigerator. At least in ours when the tube gets frozen shut the water had nowhere to go but in our egg tray.
dadcanfix. There are two possibilities here. One could be the water valve itself, clogged or not seating or opening properly. The second would be the water tank on the refrigerator side, partially frozen. I believe they have a kit now with coiled tubing that replaces that tank because of the trouble they had with it. Remove the refer drawers and take a hair dryer and go over the tank lightly. See if that improves the water flow. Catriver..post back.
