Can't print to my laserjet 1100.

I had my driver updated on the HP web site and thought I's upgrade the firmware since the datecode was 1998.. I used hp's easy firmware upgrade utility. When i came back an hour or so later I assumed it was done and closed it. Now I cannot print to the 1100. I get "error' printing in the printer box on th computer. I can print to my inkjet, I can print test page (which indicates the same old date code) but cannot print.

SOURCE: laserjet 3330 firmware upgrade problem

Sorry, but these models are infamous for the "Scanner error". Firmware, seldom, if ever solves this problem. Temporary solution is to turn machine off/on, wait for scanner to "walk out" (move to the left), turn off/on again, wait for it to move again. Do this three to 4 times and then let it complete it's warm up. The error will return frequently, this is just a workaround.
I'm a fan of HP, but this family of machines had major issues.
Hope this helps a bit :)

La impresora 4345mfp se bloquea y nose como hacer la actualizacion del firdware.

Upgrading the firmware
The MFP has remote firmware update (RFU) capability. Use the information in this section to
upgrade the MFP firmware. The overall process involves the following steps:
1 Determine the current level of firmware that is installed on the MFP.
2 Go to the HP Web site and find out whether a firmware update is available. If an update is
available, download the latest firmware to your computer.
3 Transfer the new firmware from your computer to the MFP.
Determining the current level of firmware
To determine the current level of firmware, view the configuration information on the MFP control panel. To view the configuration information, follow these instructions.
1 Press MENU.
2 Touch INFORMATION.
3 Touch PRINT CONFIGURATION. The configuration page prints.
4 The firmware datecode is listed in the section called Device Information. The firmware
datecode has this format: YYYYMMDD XX.XXX.X. The first string of numbers is the date, where
YYYY represents the year, MM represents the month, and DD represents the date. For example, a firmware datecode of that begins with 20040225 represents February 25, 2004.
Downloading the new firmware from the HP Web site
To find the most recent firmware upgrade for the MFP, go to www.hp.com/go/lj4345mfp_software.
This page provides instructions for downloading the new firmware version.
Transferring the new firmware to the MFP
Use one of the following methods to update the firmware.
Using FTP to upgrade the firmware on a network connection
NOTE The MFP can receive an .RFU file update as long as it is in a "ready" state.
The elapsed time for an update depends on the I/O transfer time, as well as the time that it takes for the MFP to reinitialize. The I/O transfer time depends on a number of things, including the speed of the host computer that is sending the update. If the remote firmware update process is interrupted before the firmware is downloaded (while Receiving Upgrade appears on the control-panel display), the firmware file must be sent again. If power is lost during the flash DIMM update (while the Performing Upgrade message appears on the control-panel display), the update is interrupted and the message Resend Upgrade appears (in English only) on the control-panel display. In this case, you must send the upgrade by using the parallel port. Finally, any jobs that are ahead of the RFU job in the queue are completed before the update is processed.
Follow these instructions to perform the upgrade by using FTP.
To upgrade the firmware on a network connection by using FTP
1 Take note of the IP address on the HP Jetdirect page. The HP Jetdirect page is the second page that prints when you print the configuration page.
NOTE Before upgrading the firmware, make sure that the MFP is not in Sleep mode.
Also make sure that any error messages are cleared from the control-panel display.
2 Open an MS-DOS command prompt on your computer.
3 Type: ftp <TCP/IP ADDRESS>. For example, if the TCP/IP address is 192.168.0.90, type ftp
192.168.0.90.
4 Press Enter on the keyboard.
5 When prompted for the user name, press Enter.
6 When prompted for the password, press Enter.
7 Type bin at the command prompt.
8 Press Enter. The message 200 Types set to I, Using binary mode to transfer files appears in
the command window.
9 Type put <filename> where <filename> is the name of the .RFU file that was downloaded
from the Web, including the path. For example, type put C:\LJ\4345FW.RFU, and then press
Enter.
NOTE If the file name or path includes a space, you must enclose the file name or path
in quotation marks. For example, type put "C:\MY DOCUMENTS\LJ\4345FW.RFU"
The following series of messages appears in the command window:
? 200 PORT command successful
? 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection
? 226 Ready
? 226 Processing Job
? 226 Transfer complete
Then, a message that contains the transfer-speed information appears.
10 The download process begins and the firmware is updated on the MFP. This can take
approximately five minutes. Let the process finish without further interaction with the MFP or
computer.
NOTE The MFP automatically turns off and then on again after processing the upgrade.
11 At the command prompt, type: bye to exit the ftp command.
12 At the command prompt, type: exit to return to the Windows interface.

Using MS-DOS commands to upgrade the firmware
To update the firmware by using a network connection, follow these instructions.
1 From a command prompt or in an MS-DOS window, type the following: copy /B <FILENAME>
\\<COMPUTERNAME>\<SHARENAME>, where <FILENAME> is the name of the .RFU file
(including the path), <COMPUTERNAME> is the name of the computer from which the MFP is
being shared, and <SHARENAME> is the MFP share name. For example: C:\>copy /b C:
\9200fW.RFU \\YOUR_SERVER\YOUR_COMPUTER.
NOTE If the file name or path includes a space, you must enclose the file name or path
in quotation marks. For example, type: C:\>copy /b "C:\MY DOCUMENTS\3500FW.RFU" \\YOUR_SERVER\YOUR_COMPUTER.
2 Press Enter on the keyboard. The control panel shows a message that indicates the progress of the firmware upgrade. At the end of the upgrade process, the control panel shows the Ready
message . The message 1 file(s) copied appears on the computer screen.

We have a M2727 Laserjet Printer/Fax . We can print, and we can receive fax, but our problem is sending a FAX.. Keeps giving us an error code of 49. Please advise Thank-You, Marla

I found this on the HP website:

HP LaserJet M2727 Multifunction Printer Series - 49 Error Message Is Displayed While Faxing ISSUE: The printer control panel will be displaying 49 service error while sending faxes. The receiving fax will be lost, and the printer will display the same error even after reboot. SOLUTION: Performing a factory reset and a firmware upgrade is the only solution for this issue. Step 1: Performing a factory reset Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also clears the fax header name and phone number. CAUTION: This procedure clears fax numbers and names that are associated with one-touch keys and speed-dial codes, and deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. The procedure then automatically restarts the product. Perform the following steps to restore the factory-set defaults: 1. On the product control panel, press Setup . 2. Use the arrow buttons to select Service , and then press OK . 3. Use the arrow buttons to select Restore defaults , and then press OK . The product automatically restarts. Step 2: Firmware upgrade After coming to ready, upgrade the printer firmware from the HP website. The issue can be fixed with any of the firmware upgrade available now. Firmware version 20080505 and higher versions have the fix. You can download firmware version 20080612 from the HP LaserJet M2727 Firmware Update 20080612 webpage. Click here to go to the HP LaserJet M2727 Firmware Update 20080612 webpage (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3377075&swItem=ma-55531-3&prodNameId=3377076&swEnvOID=228&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=3) . My HP Laser Jet 3330 keeps sending pop-ups and PRINTS out a message with the headline: HP LASERJET DIRECTOR: shortcuts and more..This occurs every time I start (boot?) my new Compaq CQ5110F PC with Vista...

Sounds like you have a software or driver conflict. Go to hp.com Support & Drivers and check to make sure you have the correct driver for Vista. Even if you do, try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Also, while at hp, check for the latest Firmware update. Go to the printers menu and scroll to INFORMATION (or REPORTS). Select that sub-menu, then scroll to PRINT CONFIGURATION PAGE. Select thi and print out the page. Look for what is beside Firmware Datecode. If it is older than what is on the hp website, print out the instructions for installing the update.

49 2f81- error

From the service manual:

A critical firmware error has occurred. This type of error can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, or invalid
operations. In some instances, electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the MFP. Other causes include poor quality parallel cables, poor connections, or specific software programs.

To fix:

1 Turn the MFP off, and then turn the
MFP on.
2 Upgrade the firmware.
3 Try printing a job from a different software program. If the job prints, go back to the first program and try printing a different file. If the message appears only with a certain software program or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
4 If the message persists when using different software programs and attempting specific print jobs, disconnect all of the cables that
connect the MFP to the network or a computer.
5 Turn the MFP off.
6 Remove all DIMMs and flash-memory cards. Do not remove the firmware memory card that is in slot 1.
7 Remove all of the EIO devices.
8 Turn the MFP on.
9 If the error message disappears, reinstall each DIMM, flash-memory card, and EIO device individually, making sure to turn the MFP power off and then on again as you install each device.
10 Replace the component that caused the error message.
11 If the error persists, replace the formatter.

To upgrade firmware:

The MFP has remote firmware update (RFU) capability. Use the information in this section to upgrade the MFP firmware. The overall process involves the following steps:
1 Determine the current level of firmware that is installed on the MFP.
2 Go to the HP Web site and find out whether a firmware update is available. If an update is available, download the latest firmware to your computer.

The firmware datecode has this format: YYYYMMDD XX.XXX.X. The first string of numbers is the date, where YYYY represents the year, MM represents the month, and DD represents the date.

This procedure requires that you install HP Web Jetadmin Version 7.0 or later on the computer. See Using HP Web Jetadmin software. Complete the following steps to update a single device through HP Web Jetadmin after downloading the .RFU file from the HP Web site.
1 Start HP Web Jetadmin.
2 Open the Device Management folder in the drop-down list in the Navigation panel. Navigate to the Device Lists folder.
3 Expand the Device Lists folder and select All Devices. Locate the MFP in the list of devices, and then click to select it.
If you need to upgrade the firmware for multiple HP LaserJet 4345mfps, select all of them by pressing the Ctrl key as you click the name of each MFP.
4 Locate the drop-down box for Device Tools in the upper-right corner of the window. Select Update Printer Firmware from the action list.
5 If the name of the .RFU file is not listed in the All Available images box, click Browse in the Upload New Firmware Image dialog box and navigate to the location of the .RFU file that you
downloaded from the Web at the start of this procedure. If the filename is listed, select it.
6 Click Upload to move the .RFU file from your hard drive to the HP Web Jetadmin server. After the upload is complete, the browser window refreshes.
7 Select the .RFU file from the Printer Firmware Update drop-down menu.
8 Click Update Firmware. HP Web Jetadmin sends the selected .RFU file to the MFP. The control panel shows messages that indicate the progress of the upgrade. At the end of the upgrade
process, the control panel shows the Ready message.

Using HP Web Jetadmin software

HP Web Jetadmin is a Web-based software solution for remotely installing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network-connected peripherals. The intuitive browser interface simplifies crossplatform
management of a wide range of devices, including HP and non-HP printers. Management is proactive, allowing network administrators the ability to resolve printer issues before users are affected. Download this free, enhanced-management software at www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin_software.
To obtain plug-ins to HP Web Jetadmin, click plug-ins, and then click the download link that is next to the name of the plug-in that you want. The HP Web Jetadmin software can automatically notify
you when new plug-ins are available. On the Product Update page, follow the directions to automatically connect to the HP Web site.
If installed on a host server, HP Web Jetadmin is available to any client through a supported Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 for Windows or Netscape Navigator 7.1 for Linux. Browse to the HP Web Jetadmin host.

Replacing the formatter

1 Slide the formatter cover toward the left side of the MFP and remove it.

394646e.jpg

2 Remove two thumb screws (callout 1).

9837c30.jpg

3 Slide the formatter toward the left side of the MFP, and then remove it.
