Question about Gateway 510H Pentium 2.4 GHz, 256MB RAM, 40 GB HD, DVD/CD-RW, Mini Tower Computer (510HRB) PC Desktop
I have a gateway tower computer, im not very good with it. i have avg 7.5 virus protection in it. a virus shows up on screen i have tried to both heal it and put it in virus vault. it come up as trojan horse psw.generic6.bejd c:`docume~/`roger`locals~/`temp`123.dll. then back up copy infected. no matter what i do it comes back, is there a way to get rid of it and how do i delete the things in the virus vault
Update your anti-virus, and turn off your computer. Restart and boot it in safe mode. Once Windows loads, open your anti-virus and perform a full scan. Hopefully it should remove it, as it can't hide in safe mode. Good luck.

Suggest this instead.
I know that it all the time, it seems there are new recommended anti-malware programs.
Use this! Use That!
The one I'm about to recommend is an extremely good anti-malware program, that will get rid of what a lot of the others won't touch.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. My niece has a computer that became 'infected' with MS Antivirus 2009. This junk is a malware program, that leads unsupecting computer users, into thinking it's a Microsoft anti-virus product.
It goes by Many names. You can almost just wait a week, and it will have a new name. I invite you to go to Wikipedia.org, and type in MS Antivirus. See what Wikipedia has for info.
At first I was just going to format her harddrive, and be done with it. Just quit fooling around. Problem was is that she would lose many saved personal documents, dowmloaded programs and applications.
I typed Antivirus 2009 in my browser search bar, andf the search hits led me to Wikipedia, and the above article, I just referred you to. I saw Malwarebytes listed, and gave it a try.
I used the free version, and it wiped Antivirus 2009 right off of the computer.
Before I used it, I couldn't get access to any Administrative tasks. No Control panel access, no Windows Explorer access, no nothing!
Malwarebytes has a paid version and a free version. The paid version is supposed to operate in Real Time. This means as soon as you turn your computer on, Malwarebytes is running.
I don't know.
I don't advertise ANYTHING, for ANYBODY at any time. I just recommend the free stuff, and the stuff that actually works!
You can go to Wikipedia.org, and type Malwarebytes in their search bar, to obtain more info.
This link, is to the download page of the free version of Malwarebytes, http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Go down to the blue -> Download Now (2.83MB) <- to the right of the green square with the V over the C in it. Click on Download Now.

The best software available is called Malware Bytes. It is a smaller application that kills everything you don't want and is free. It can be downloaded from http://www.malwarebytes.org .
After downloading and installing, update the definitions file if not prompted to do so right away. After a full scan, you will have to reboot. Upon rebooting, run the scan again to insure every piece of malware has been removed. Works everytime.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
