Canon MP810 I have had 2 printers installed on my PC , a Lexmark Z45 and more recently a Canon MP810. They have been working fine but 2 days ago when I went to print there are no printers showing in the printers panel, When I have tried to reinstall the drivers I am told that the operation cannot be performed. I am at a dead end. I have seen one website which suggests I might need to amend the registry but that sounds a bit scary. Any ideas and help would be appreciated

Check the printer status:

1 Click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes.
2 From the Printers folder, double-click the Lexmark Z45 printer icon.
3 From the Printer menu, make sure:
– Default Printer is selected.
– Pause Printing is not selected.

Check the printer port:

1 Click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes.
2 Click the Ports tab.
3 From the list of ports, select the USB printer port. If the USB port is not listed, uninstall and then reinstall the printer software.
4 Click Apply.
5 Click OK.

Make sure you have not installed multiple copies of the printer software:

Windows XP: From the Start menu, click Control Panel Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes.
In the Printers folder, make sure there is only one Lexmark Z45 printer icon. If you have installed multiple copies of the printer software, uninstall each copy. Then restart the computer and reinstall the printer software.
If the printer port is incorrect or you have installed multiple copies of the printer software, uninstall and then reinstall the printer software:

1 From the Start menu, click Programs or All Programs Lexmark Z45 Uninstall.
2 Follow the instructions on your screen to uninstall the printer software.
3 Restart your computer.
4 Reinstall the printer software

try this following :
1.Check the printer status, Default Printer is selected.Pause Printing is not selected
2. Check the printer port: a.lick start-control panel-printers and other hardware-printer and fax, b. click on ports tab, c from the list of ports select the USB printer port (if the USB not listed, uninstal and then reinatal the printer software, d click apply, e click OK.
3. Make sure you have not installed multiple copies of the printer SOFWARE. From the Start menu, click Control Panel Printers
and Other Hardware Printers and Faxes, In the Printers folder, make sure there is only one Lexmark Z45 printer icon
NOTE ; If you have installed multiple copies of the printer software, uninstall
each copy. Then restart the computer and reinstall the printer software.

Here you must select your -> Zone -> Country -> Language
Then in “Search by model” write “your model”
Then select your operating system,
“Download now”

Just wanted to say this worked great for me and saved me from having to purchase a new printer. Thank you VERY much. The computer was in by budget, but not a new printer. Blessings!

The z33 is really old and probably will not get Vista support. Similar printers are really cheap so your best bet is to replace it. Otherwise install the printer as a simillar printer that Vista does recognise. I used to run my z45 as a z42 in Vista as Lexmark did not have Vista drivers for the z45 but Vista came with z42 support. It worked!!! Look for the z32 or something close to z33, you may have to do some trial and error until you find a good one. Not all function might work properly though, I wasn't able to auto-calibrate my z45.
