You can purchase just the display piece for replacement. It is tedious to take apart the whole laptop because the display is plugged into the motherboard at the bottom, but usually cheaper than replacing the whole computer. Instructions for replacing the display piece can be found on the manufactures website in PDF form. Displays can be also be purchased from the manufacturer but it is much cheaper to buy them from a highly rated seller on Ebay.

I dropped my laptop and wherever the screen was white, there are now thin vertical blue lines

Rarely does anything good from a dropped laptop. Does it have the same issue if connected to a External Monitor? You can disassemble the laptop and search for loose connections on the motherboard/graphics adapter, screen, etc. That would be a start.

Hi there, The little pc's screen got messed up somehow. The left half is completely fine, the other half is mainly white with a few tiny vertical lines. It's only on the netbook, and...

Yes there is a ribbon cable that connects to the back of the monitor, but as a rule, if that cable is loose you lose the monitor all to gather Was the laptop dropped, jarred, fell over on the screen, with the lid closed? Has a driver been updated resently? I had a similar issue but thr monitor was dark no connection, I accessed the rear of the monitor, and reseated the ribbon cable, and secured it with tape. Your problem sounds different like a software issue. You have tried to reboot? remove battery before, plugging the AC in.

I dropped my laptop, Vaio VGN-NR185E, and the screen is turning blue with the white colors, so if there's a blank page it's blue instead of white, I believe it's the inverter or maybe a loose wire, What do...

If the unit was dropped, it could be that a wire /cable came loose, but it most likely is the LCD screen. Was the unit dropped on one edge of the unit or did it land flat?

on edge: probably the LCD screen
flat: loose cable or inverter

Best guess....without seeing unit.

Acer laptop fell, little crack rght side, windows wont open.

My guess is that he hard drive probably got knocked loose in its connector. If you feel confident get out your manual and read the instructions of wear the hard drive is and how to replace. Now turn off all power, remove the battery and unplug the charge. Once that is done remove the hard drive. Look it over for damage and then reinsert it. Hopefully reseating it will solve your problem. If not, the unit needs to go to a reputable repair person.

My son dropped his compaq c500 laptop and it has a white screen

To find out if it is the screen or not plug a monitor into the vga port on the compaq. If it works it's the screen, if not then it's the motherboard.
Either way it is not going to be inexpensive.

Preview screen half white, with black blob!

I think ribbon connector of LCD is misaligned in your camera.
If you are comfortable with it, please apart camera and readjust ribbon connector at main board.

I dropped my laptop and now the screen is messed up.

Ack. Sounds like you might need to replace your screen (sounds pricey but is cheaper than a new laptop). You can find second hand/refurbished screens or another Aspire with a working screen being sold for parts on Ebay or here

On a side note, if you a have a PC monitor lying around, you can access your files by hooking it up to your laptop via the dvi slot. Granted, it seems a bit ghetto but its a quick fix until you get something more permanent.

I recently broke my iPhone screen and completely shattered a dell laptop a few years ago. You know all those people who are adamant about you buying proper carrying/protective cases? Screw 'em.

Broken screen

You might find a replacement LCD screen on EBay.
Failing that you can connect your laptop to an external monitor, of course you would be desk bound.
