Question about Kenwood KAC-X1R Car Audio Amplifier

Kenwood kac-x1r flashes code e-03

I have 2 kenwood kac-x1rs> i had one hooked up along with a kenwood kac-x4r and a small alpine amp 4 channel. I tried hooking up the first kac-x1r and it would cause both the other amps to cut off. no power at all. I then figured i wasnt geting enough voltage at the remote turn on wire. so i made a jumper wire from the main power input on the amp to the remote turn on wire. amp then worked perfectly. ran it like that for a day. then the amp would come back on. i removed the jumper wire and no power. i then tried the reset button and nothing. i swapped out that x1r for another, and the other works perfectly. i then replace the first on back in and i get a blinking red light and the display gives e-03 code and then for a brief second i get the voltage display of like 10volts this happens continusly over and over again. did i blow the remote turn on? if so how do i fix it and if not what could be causing this? im running a pair of cerwin vega's 12.4 v-max. the silver cones ones from 2 years ago. also what is the proper way to wire a 2 ohm mono load per amp? i have the subs both wired in correctly, just dont know which speaker connection to use on the amp as the instructions dont cover that.

What amp would be better to use with what speakers/sub? I have a KAC-7202 kenwood 920W maximum power (150wX2 RMS, 4ohms) (230wX2 RMS 2ohms) and then the other amp I have is a Alpine MRP-M500 mono power...

I'm using that Alpine right now for 2-12" subs and I have compared it to 6 or 7 other amps this month and most were 4 channel 150Watt/Channel Bridged to 300Watts x 2 and found the Alpine to be superior in both sound quality and loudness. The Alpine has also not turned off even with full volume for hours at a time, Very solid amp I was very surprised due to it's size!

When I turn up the volume the amp shuts off and displays an E-03

do you have your subs wired down to 1 ohm? The reviews on this amp is not very good, a lot of people said they had a lot of problems with this amp, a lot of blown fuses and cant take a 1 ohm load

How too hook my kac 7201 up to my two dual 4 ohm Alpine type Rs

Hello manbearpig65,

Well, that's a 2-channel amp, so it's really best used to power a set of regular speakers.

The best power solution, for your existing components, is to wire each of your subs voice coils in parallel, resulting in a 2 ohm load, and then run each sub off a separate channel from the amp.

The amp is stable only to 4 ohms in bridged mode, so you would series the sub voice coils (8 ohm load) and then parallel them (4 ohm load) to the amp bridged connection. This will result in less power to each sub than if you ran them separately.

Hope this helps.
