Question about Dishwashers

INSULLATION BLANKET Today I had two KitchenAid dishwashers installed. The installer took the insullation blanket off and told me that it was not necessary. He did this because the dishwashers did not fit under the counter with it on. I bought these dishwasher because if had a 51 Db rating for sound. They are noisy. Is it possible that this wrap around polyester foam like blanket actually helps decrease the sound?

I did just that....I called him and told him that the blanket probably is the reason it is not quiet and not to throw it out. I know for a fact that he took it off because it would not fit. Unfortunately, he was there when I was choosing at Lowes and I knew the exact measurements to the 1/4 of an inch and he told me that these would be fine. I thought they were just too high but he said they were not. Thank you for your help.

Sunbeam electric blanket repair waynesboro ms

wash the blanket then throw it in the bin
water and electrical components do not mix
electrical blankets are just a resistor element in ceramic covering and if you put that in a washing machine that is the end of the insulation

Do we remove the wrap from the back of the unit before use

Hello Pauline,
If what your asking about is the wrap the fits side walls, top & rear of the dishwasher, leave it in place when installing in the cabinet. What it is,is a insulation/sound dampening blanket

I just pulled out my Kenmore built in dishwasher which was installed 4 years ago and see what looks like a blanket of sorts draped over the top and down the sides. Is this some kind of packing material...

The blanket you are referring to is not packaging material. This is an insulator blanket that not only keeps the underside of countertop and adjacent cabinets shielded from the heat of the dishwasher tub, but also provides a noise barrier. Without it, the dishwasher may genrate more noise, and you may feel more radiant heat given off when the dishwasher heats the water. This is supposed to remain in place and should not be removed.

I have a 50 gal State water heater. I need a blanket that will fit it with measurements of 57in tall and 66in wide. Any suggestions since most blankets are 48in

Unfortunately, virtually all mass-market water heater blankets are 48" wide. One option is to buy a 32 sf roll of R13 ComfortTherm wall insulation (15" wide) and install in four segments. Unlike regular wall insulation, this product is sandwiched in plastic, making it much easier to handle and install (and neater) than kraft-faced insulation. It's made by Johns Manville and available at Lowes for about $9 (JM product number B011, Lowes item #44026). You'll need a suitable tape for the seams.

By the way, when calculating blanket width, you must add insulation thickness (times 2) to the tank diameter. My heater is 20.5" in diameter, so for 3.5" wall insulation, the effective diameter is 27.5", so the circumference is about 86".

Mass market blankets are 75" wide, and come in 1.5", 2" and 3" thicknesses. These can handle tank diameters up to 21, 20 and 18 inches, respectively.

Bosch she4am dishwasher noise

Just placing a fiberglass batt over the cabinet exterior will quiet it down considerably. Use some thin synthetic cord to tie it in place so that it doesn't crawl off from vibration. If still noisy, remove the door interior panel and check for any insulation there. If there is any appreciable gap at the sides or top, you may need to staple insulation around the interior of the cabinet opening. I'm surprised that they were that lax in noise suppression. Hope this helps!

I cannot find instructions for installing sound insulation on KUDS301V

Hello- There aren't any instructions. The top, back, and sides are covered by what looks like a blanket that fits over unit - before installation. The kickpanel at bottom has two pieces with insulation that just kind of fit loosely together,  and are held in place by four screws. Installer is supposed to make sure these are in place.  Let me know if this info helps-  have more if needed- Thanks- Ed

Dishwasher insulation for heat

Hi marseibold,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your questoin is: You're wondering if you can further insulate your dishwasher for heat. You are redoing your kitchen, new appliances, cabinets, etc. and shortsightedly put the spice sliding pull-out cabinet next to the dishwasher. The spices get warm when you use the dishwasher. There is a bit of room between the cabinet and dishwasher. Any recommendations for further insulation?

Yes. I would get another insulation blanket off a d/w I'm disposing. Anyway, you need to get one and install it over the old one to decrease the heat transfer.
