Question about Cell Phones

2 Answers

Nokia N95 when sync with Outlook takes all the contacts from all folders when I only want the contacts from a single contacts folder. I select Nokia Pc Suite, Sync, settings, What to sync, tick all boxes, select Microsoft outlook, select folders, under the contacts title I select the folder I wish to sync, but on activating the sync it takes all my contacts not only the selected folder. Please help!

I dont know if I have explained myself clearly.

I have about 12 seperate contacts folders in Outlook on my computer.

I am sure that I have managed to sync only 1 folder before, I am now on my 5th N95 phone and the only thing I can put it down to is that I have updated my software along the way. I dont see why it should be impossible when there is a prompt as to which folders you wish to sync with.

As I said I am sure Ive done it before, its just one of those things that you do it once and then dont expect that it will be a problem in the future, how wrong I was!

There is no way to stop this, you must create a folder with just the contacts u want it to copy, I have the same phone and that is how the email syc works, u can't select just what u want, it takes all the info.

Only want to sync selected contacts from outlook

You will have to move those certain categorized contacts to a new contacts folder in OutlookI. So i outlook create another contacts folder go to the folder tab and right click and select new folder - name it what every you like eg." iPhone Contacts" Copy or move all the contacts you have in outlook that you what to sync with your iphone to that new folder.
In itunes make sure your iphone is connected and then select your device on the left hand panel then select the the info tab at the top make sure sync contacts with: Outlook is selected and then choose Selected groups and tick the new folder you just created in outlook.
Just below that also tick Put new contacts created on this iPhone into group: and the select the group that you want to go in - most likely you will want it to go into the same one (folder)

Take the Outlook contacts (highlight then copy) forward your contacts in Outlook and email them to yourself as V-cards these can be saved to the desktop folder Name it Phone contacts. Now here is the rub you must have a Blue Tooth dongle connected to your computer and the Blue Soleil Software available on the net. This will allow you to pair with the computer and phone. Select the contacts in the folder right click and then send to Bluetooth select the phone and you are done. Now if you get an error restart the phone and software ....works for me Note: this is not sync per say but at least you can type your contacts in Outlook and forward them to the phone. The rest of the folders on the phone have been disabled by Bell TELUS etc in Canada and some companies in the U.S. so they can charge us Data rate over and above the already high cell costs they shove at us...sorry had to vent.

Sync Outlook Contacts & iPhone

When you create a new Contacts Folder you have to make sure that you create as a subfolder of the main contacts folder (in the create window you are shown the file tree).

I had the folders moved in different groups as well but I am not sure that it made a difference.

Please note that you have to leave outlook and itunes on for a few minutes before they synch and iTunes see the new folders.

How to sync contacts from iphone to outlook 2003?

Hi,

When you connect your iPhone to the PC that you always sync with, Go to Info tab, Check the box Sync Contacts with: and select Outlook. Then make sure that you check the box Put new contacts created on this phone into the group: and select a subfolder in your main contacts folder.

This way, all the contacts from your iPhone will be saved into another folder in your main contacts folder of your Outlook PST.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
Sandeep

Sync problem w/outlook contact

I use my 548 to keep my work and home versions of Outlook syncronised. I have about 70 contacts stored. Three suggestions.. 1) Do you have enough free memory? Emails can take up megabytes, and for that reason I choose not to sync emails. 2) Are all of your contacts in the same Contacts folder? I have two contacts folders on my home Outlook, one for me and one for my wife, I only sync my contacts to my 548. 3) In Activesync, click on Options, Sync options, contacts, settings and make sure that "Syncronize all contacts" is checked

Sync to Public/Shared Folders in Outlook

Yes you can. You can sync to public folders using Chapura’s Keysuite, which allows you to choose the folder (or folders) you want to sync to. I have been doing so for years with different Treos, and in fact their synchronisation software is much better than that which comes with the Treo 650.
