Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

Washer does not do anything

I was trying to replace the lid switch, took off the control panel, (there was some moving around of the machine, disconnected the hoses, etc) and now that I have it back, it's not working. I hear small buzz sound once i turn it on, but nothing else happens.

The lid trigger broke off of our door, probably by the spin cycles, and now the washer doesn't rinse or spin cycle because it thinks the door is open. It still fills up and goes through the first cycle, but nothing after that. What it does do, like what another person discribed, is it makes a electrical noise when it's supposed to be in a spin cycle. I can't jimmy-rig the door to make the washer think the door is closed either I already tried that. If I get a new lid trigger and get the wiring correct, do you think this will allow me to finish washes?

RP,

Sounds like you forgot to turn the water on once you hooked the hoses back up to the washer.

If this is the case, don't feel bad. I've done it myself (once) before I learned my lesson. ;P If this is not the problem, write back and we'll go deeper into a diagnosis, OK?

I have a washer kemore 600 series, it pumps water in but will not do anything else. Is there a reset button on the motor or pump?

Hello there and welcome to fixya
If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped? try to unplug for 15 min then reset the home breakeer than plug in the machine again and try Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. To determine if the lid switch has failed, watch the part testing video . at repair clinic.com Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse. or it will fill but will stop after that

Washer fills with water, but does not spin out the clothes

Check the lid switch. Most of the time, that switch has to be 'made' for the washer to start agitating.

Some switches are mechanical (contacts) and some are magnetic. I just troubleshot the very same problem with a mechanical lid switch. Since it was my own washer and no little kiddies running around, I basically took the lid switch out of the circuit* and shorted the two contact wires together, simulating a closed switch.

*I located the wiring connector behind the main control panel that went to the lid switch. With power off, I disconnected this connector and made a 'short' using a paper clip and pushed it into the connector, turned power back on, (made sure this was the solution to the problem) then taped it up with electrical tape.

Kenmore washer 80 series won't drain, I took out water manually and tried to advance it to spin and it won't spin either. Please Help!

Hello, Your problem is going to be with your lid switch, this is located normally either in the control panel or about half way down on the right side under the lid. This is a safety feature to stop you opening the lid while the machine is in a high spin. Once you have located the switch trace the wires back to the wire harness in the control panel. Disconnect the lid switch from the wire harness and with an ohms meter check for condinuity on pin 1 & 3 (the 2 outside pins not the middle this is a ground) You should find you have no condinuity and should replace this switch. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike

Kenmore 70 Series Washer won't spin or drain

DO NOT by pass a lid switch. It is installed as a designed safety feature to prevent bodily when opening the lid from moving parts. The CORRECT solution is to replace the switch. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace a lid switch:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

Replacements can be purchased at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com. All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop all of them for the best deals. The first two web sites have excellent exploded view diagrams of your appliance to aid in parts location and assembly.

If you have any questions about this repair, or if you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

PS This is not a difficult repair and it doesn't cost much ($25 to $35) on average for a replacement switch. Begin, fisrt by making sure the switch isn't loose or the lid strike (if equipped) isn't broken off. You may not need parts.

Kenmore washer

Yes I fixed my washer problem.
The washer was stopping before it would drain and spin. I would raise the lid and then close it back and it would start back up. So we figured the lid switch was broke.

Before you do anything you "unplug" the washer!
You have to pop the ends off the back panel with the buttons on it. Then you unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of the panel and raise it up. Then you remove the brass clips that are holding the lid on. Then you move the whole washing machine cabinet out. My husband replaced the lid switch. Then we had to figure out how to get the cabinet back on right. That took some time but we did it. Then you repeat everything you did to take it off to put it back together.

The washer is working fine now.

Washer will not turn on. The knob moves but nothing happens when I turn it on. I've checked the breaker, the water, the plug/outlet, and hoses. Everything looks fine. But nothing happens.
