Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Problem with RGB color...registering as green and image distorted

My Phillips rear projection televsion, 60PP9202 model DPTV305F is distorting the image on the screen. It seems that the red, blue, and green color is projecting an image itself that offsets one another, creating a drop-shadow effect. Everything seems to be tinted green and there is a shadow of red that slightly offsets the image. I am assuming there is something wrong with the RGB controls of the television or a color convergence problem. I have read through some of the other submitions and it seems that others are having similar issues but I am not getting any progress. If the is anything you can do to lead me in the direction of fixing it I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to try to fix the television myself, is there anything I can do?

thank you very much for your help!

I have a ghosting/shadowing on my Philips 60pp9202 tv. it shows 3 lines on my tv guide - one is white (normal), then there is a green line and red line. I have read that it could be the lamp/bulb or a convergence chip - i know nothing about either one, but I have tried locating the bulb for it and have been unsuccessful. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem as the distorted image where the picture looks as if its two images instead of one. Plus the color is off. The top of the screen has lines as well as the bottom. To me it looks as though the picture tube is going out but I don't even know if this television has a picture tube since I don't have a manual on it.

Very common problem caused by the CRT coolant needing replacement. You can get the phillips CRT coolant kit at which also comes with instructions.

I have a Phillips projection TV Model# 60PP9202 Chassis # DPTV305F with a linear distortion problem. The colors are not aligning. Can I fix my TV myself, or do I have to take it in. Any advice would be...

It soundsa like you have a convergence problem. Probably only one color. (The green and red may be ok but the blue is bowed or any of those combinations) This will require the repklacement of convergence IC's and then alignment. Probably best to have a experienced tech take care of this.

Your convergence chips and convergence resistors are going bad. When they fail the screen colors will look distorted/3d looking.  Another symptom is one or more colors can't be converged using the convergence menu. You can purchase the parts over the internet. Just make sure you get Sanyo brand convergence chips and the correct flame proof resistors. You can also check the site They are working on a complete kit for this model.

Distorted image and color

sounds like the convergence ICs have failed. Will the red and blue move in all 4 directions when you try to adjust the convergence? If not the convergence ICs are bad replace both of them also check the resistors that power the ICs as they may be open as well.
