Re: No Sound

It seems to be that the antenna is at fault. If you can take it apart, you should resolder the antenna.

No sound from speaker but through ear piece I get sound.

Many devices will automatically switch off the large speaker when ear phones are plugged into them. Also there may be a switch or button or prompt on your radio to switch between regular speaker and ear phone jack. Look for that first.
Try connecting and disconnection ear phones while listening to a station and see if the problem is intermittent. If is works sometimes but not every time then it is most likely an internal connection.
You will have to access the inside of the radio to investigate further. Connect a working external music or sound source with speaker wire to the terminals inside the radio that connect to the radio's speaker. If the radio's speaker works with the external sound source then you know it is a bad connection inside your radio. If the radio's speaker does not work with the external sound source then it is most likely a faulty radio speaker. Look closely for a broken solder point or broken/disconnected wire.

My ICF-SW7600 has a clipping sound when first

It's hard to describe a sound in words, so I'm not sure I know what your "clipping sound" sounds like. You may be describing what's called "motorboating", which is a loud rapid putt-putting that drowns out the desired sound until it fades away. This is usually due to power supply problems, most often caused by bad filter capacitors. If I remember this model correctly, it doesn't have a built-in supply so you need to run it with an external adapter. That may be the source of your trouble. Try a different adapter or use battery power to see if the problem goes away.

If this problem only shows up when you're tuned to the station on 93.9, your radio may be picking up some kind of interference. It's also possible (but very unlikely) that the radio itself is producing a "birdie", which is a false signal on some frequency. If this is the case, it's a very obscure problem that may be very hard to find.

Sorry I can't be more precise, but maybe this will get you started. Thanks for using Fixya!

When I shut the radio off the clock and radio memory goes to How do I set the clock and stations so that when I tur it on I have the clock and stations.

Have you inserted 2 x AA batteries in the back where you charge the Dewalt batteries? there is a cover with a black phillips screw, this is where the AA batteries go for the memory clock & radio presets.

No sound

If you are getting AM sound, but not FM, its because the headphones you are using are shielded for interference. This shielding is what is causing you not to be able to pickup FM, as the headphone wires are what is used as an FM antenna for the unit. Try using a CHEAPER set of headphones (Yes, I said cheaper). Cheaper headphones usually don't have the shielding. Usually these types of headphones have both wires for the headphones bound together as one wire.

Need an owners manual

to set the 5 main presets:
with radio on, use the manual tuner to find station you want on a preset. push and release mem/clock adj button (mem will flash on display), push preset number and while holding it in push the mem/clock adj button again (mem on display will go away). station is now preset to that number.

to set the 5 additional presets:
with radio on, use the manual tuner to find station you want on a preset. push and release the +5 button (+5 will flash on display), push and release mem/clock adj button (mem will also flash on display), push preset number and while holding it in push the mem/clock adj button again (mem on display will go away). station is now preset to that +5 number.

to set the digital clock display:
with radio off, push and release the mem/clock adj button (clock display will now flash), use the tun up / hr part of manual tuning button to adjust hour and the tun dn / min part to adjust minutes.
