Question about Samsung HT-Q40 System

1 Answer

Freezes control, but keeps playing

My Samsung HT-Q40 is giving me headaches. I bought it a while ago and it was working really fine when this crazy this started happening. Whatever I'm doing with it, be it watching a movie, listening to the radio, listening to a cd, or using the auxiliary input port to listen to my XM Radio, after a time (this time is completely variable) it simply freezes all controls of the equipment. I cannot access it either from the remote or from its own buttons. I can't turn it on or off. There's nothing I can really do when this happens other than cut the power straight from the power outlet and put it back on. I could find no explanation of why or when this will happen when I'm using it. Sometimes I use it for a whole day and it works fine. Sometimes, after less than two minutes all controls are gone. Does anyone have a clue of what I can do to try to solve it?

It is not a solution, it is just another person with the same problem that I have.

I am the same exact problem and it is VERY annoying.  The controls just freeze up and I have to unplug the system and then try it again.  As mentioned, it happens randomly and I can't determine any pattern. I bought mine a little over a year ago, so it is out of warranty.

Will not turn off has to be unplugged and if left on will not respond either - has to be unplugged.

No solution, but i have the same problem. System freezes up and nothing works. I have to unplug it. Have had it into 2 service shops and they can't find a problem. They suggested it was overheating and that i disconnect one speaker. It seemed to solve the problem for awhile but it started acting up again after a couple of months. Samsung was no help at all and it's off warranty. I'm going to buy another unit. It won't be Samsung

No sound from a Samsung HT-Q40?

It's part of an HTiB (Home Theater in a Box). Get the speakers that it's designed to mate with. HTIB's are not like components. Due to proprietary connectors and who knows what else under the hood, they are not intended to be mixed and matched with other units.

This unit has standard speaker connections so you might be able to find some speakers to hook up to it, but its original speakers were rated at 3-ohms impedance and the spec for the amp is also at 3-ohms. You probably won't blow anything up trying them, but don't expect earth-shattering volume from typical 8-ohm speakers. As the saying goes, individual results will vary.

How exactly did you expect the TV to be the speakers for this thing? It doesn't have an outbound audio connection. TV's are traditionally the part that makes pretty moving pictures while other electronics and speakers take care of the audio end.

If you need the manual, go to, register, find it using >>> Samsung HT-Q40 <<< and download it for free.
