start at the top of the threads (near handle) and spin around and down to open the threads again. BE CAREFUL Then do this again with a small flathead to open them wider and slowly connect a known good hose end on and off several times
I understand that the blower wheel is not spinning on your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FAD504DUD. I also see that the compressor will stay on unless the dehumidifier is unplugged. I suggest you contact the manufacturer for further assistance. They can possibly clarify why the compressor stays on and why the blower fan is not working. If not, they should at least be able to point you in the right direction of having your dehumidifier working. Hope this is helpful.
The dripping sound, if it's water dripping into the water collection bucket is normal. The filter is behind the louvers on the front. It can be accessed(depending on the model) by turning the unit OFF, unplugging it and removing the water bucket. Inside the water bucket holder at the top of it's opening, just behind the louvers, you will see a plastic tab(s) pull handle. If the filter has never been removed to be cleaned (shame on you), there may be a piece of plastic tape holding it in place. This was for shipping purposes. Remove it and discard it. Pull the tab handle(s) straight down and the filter and frame should come out. It may be snug, since you have never removed it, so be gently persistent . Since it has never been cleaned in 2 years, vacuuming it will not work. Wash it in warm water and mild dish washing liquid, rinse thoroughly and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place. As it cause damage to the unit.
If the filter was not where I said to first look. There may be a flip open type rectangular door on the right side of the unit, just behind the front louvers. Ope that door and you will see the plastic filter frame. Pull that straight out and follow the instructions above to clean it.
I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
1. Remove the water bucket and look up just inside the bucket holder for a pull tab type handle. If you see one or two, that is the filter frame. Pull staring down on it. If you have never removed the filter before thee may be a piece of tape holding it up in place. This was just for shipping purposes. Remove the tape and discard it.
2. On the right hand side of the unit (as you face it) there may be a rectangular flip open plastic door. Behind that door lies the filter. Open the door and pull the filter straight out. Like the above, it may have a piece of tape on it. Remove the tape and discard it.
To clean the filter. you can vacuum ti using a vacuum that has a hose & brush attachment. If it is really dirty, wash it in warm water and mild dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter installed. Doing so, can damage the unit.
I hope this was of help to you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
The air intake filter is one of 2 places. In either case, it's behind the front louvers
1. Remove the water collection bucket from it's holder. Look up into the bucket holder, just behind the front louvers. You should see what looks like a plastic frame. It may have a pull tab handle. In any event, the is the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out. It can be cleaned with a vacuum or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid, rinse and allow to completely dry before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place. Doing so, could damage the unit.
2, Look on the right hand side of the unit's cabinet, just behind the louvers. If you see what appears to be a op open door, the filter is behind that door. Follow the above directions for cleaning the filter.
It's not unusual for a dehumidifier to blow warm air. As it may be in defrost mode. Even so, they still blow warm air.
The model number you furnished is slightly helpful. Knowing what brand it is, would be even better.
Never-the-less, the filter should be located behind the front louvers of the unit. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder, just behind the front louvers. You may see a plastic pull tab handle. If so, that's the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out.
If you didn't find it there, look on the right hand side of the unit, just behind the louvers for what looks like a a flip open door. If you see that, flip the door open and remove the filter.
The filter can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Thoroughly rinse and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place.
2. Remove the bucket from the holder. Look up inside the holder, just in front of the louvers and you may see a plastic pull tab type handle. This will be the handle to the filter frame. Pull it down and out of the unit. Since it sounds like it has never been cleaned, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place, as it could cause damage to the unit
2. If the filter was not located in step 1, on the right side of the unit, just behind the louvers, there may be a pull open trap door. Flipping that door open, will give you access to the filter and it's removal. Clean it as described above.
The above are the only 2 places I know of, that the filter can be located in on a Delonghi Dehumidifier. Unless, your unit is over 10 years old. In any event, I hope this helped you.
Norman, once the unit reaches the extraction level you have it set for, the unit will turn OFF automatically. However, depending on the humidity level in your home, it may take several cycles of running and emptying the bucket until it reached. After that, it should turn OFF, once the level is reached. Then when the humidity level rises above the setting it's on, it will start up again.
Since your unit is a Manually Controlled unit, there's no safe way to "rig' it to run on with a timer. The plug in wall timers are not rated high enough to handle the load of the dehumidifiers operation. Trying to use one, would fry the timer and possibly the dehumidifier.
If you want all the features you mentioned, you will need to purchase a new electronically controlled dehumidifier.
Hazel, I assume you want to know how to find and remove the filter for cleaning.
The filter is located behind the front air intake louvers and depending on which model you have, the filter can be accessed one of two ways. Before you attempt to remove the filter turn the unit OFF and unplug it.
1. Remove the bucket from it's holder. Look up inside the bucket cavity, just inside the unit behind the louvers and you will see a tab type pull handle. This is the handle to the frame of the filter. Pull it down and out.
2. As you're facing the unit on the fight side just behind the louvers, there will appear to be a trap type door. Open this door and you will have access to pull the filter out.
You can clean the filter in one of two ways: Vacuum it or it it's really dirty, wash it in warm soapy (dish washing liquid), rinse and dry thoroughly. NEVER operate the dehumidifier without the filter in place. Doing so, can cause damage to the unit.
