Canon IPF 8000 does not recognize ink tank

The LCD display reads "No ink tank installed" but there is a tank and it is about 1/2 full.

Repeatedly we get a "no ink tak loaded" error message on one specific color. We remove ink tank and put it back in (plenty of ink in the tank). After it runs through the aggitate and cleaning cycle everything is ok. Then out of the blue, sometimes between prints sometimes while it is sitting inactive, it will have the error that there is no ink tank installed in that spot. We then repeat. This is getting old.

Hello, i'd like to ask for advice. I have this one problem with canon ipf 8000, we've been using Schoeller H 64160 photopaper for poster printing with no problem. But recently we got different type of...

iI would check your paper type setting. you are working with a liquid type of ink and water will effect it. check the drying time of this ink. set your paper type to the set the type most suitable for this paper. try heavy gloss. you will find it under paper settings in the main menu. If no luck refer back to the ink and its compatibiliy with your ipf 8000. now if these are a recharged cartridges. you should change to the oem. meaning" original engineering manufacture".

You need to clean your waste ink i think. For troubleshooting purposes, please perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

  • Replace a new Canon ink cartridge as it could be due to the unique features that Canon has build on their ink cartridge not done properly which resulted to be faulty. Report the issue to Canon if your existing ink cartridge is not from other 3rd party band, Canon should be able to do 1 to 1 exchange once confirmed that it is their ink cartridge problem. Cannon has build the unique feature to prevent users from misusing 3rd party ink cartridge on their printer.
  • Other times if by replacing new ink cartridge the problem for error code still occurs, it might be the pin on the print-head has lost the alighting, this will require for Canon to service to alight back the pin on print-head in order for the printer to operate smoothly again.
  • Or missing pin has dropped off from the print-head which causes the printer not able to read the ink cartridge, printer needs to be serviced.
  • (Maybe check with your own nearby technician if by any lucks they can help to rescue your printer, which I hope Canon does not have further enhancement on their printer with other Unique features to prevent users from using 3rd party technical support.)
