Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook
Laptop drives are far more delicate then standard players. There are more mechanisms involved with standard players that reduce the wearing that these CDs can occur. Its also common to see warnings regarding slot-fed drives, like car CD players, for this same reason.
Given the fragility of your laptop drive, regardless of slot or tray, it is highly suggested that you purchase a "CD Lens Cleaning" kit instead.
Many drives are different, and the plastics used on the lenses can be subjected to hazing, or worse using solvents to clean them. It is important to find something specifically tailored for computer cd drives.
During the beginning it was safe to clean them with simple rubbing alcohol (70%) but I have damaged certain drives attempting this, while others were repaired. Hopefully this story has helped better explain why I was specific about what to use.
Check TigerDirect.com or EggHead.com for products specifically designed for laptops/computers.
