This is most likely the IP address updating.

Its very uncommon to get a disconnection only once at a specific time due to improper configuration.

Rest assured, you did everything correctly.

How do you hook up a Dynex Ethernet Hub

If your hub has 4 or 5 connectors, connect one port to your router. This device will NOT work when connected to your cable modem, as the hub does not manage IP addresses like a router does. Hope this helps ... the remaining ports will feed internet, but not provide Internet addresses to a computer.

Lose internet connection (hughes net) when hooking up router

I would contact your hughes net, that is a satelite provider. That is a total different system, than dsl or cable. Hughes net should be able to walk you through the setup.

Dynex dx-ehb4 will not change ip addresses

I am not familiar with that router so I will provide general knowledge and you can apply it to fix your problem.
It sounds like your cable modem is willing to supply a single IP address. This can and should be connected to the WAN port of your router. The problem is that the router is not assigning IP addresses to the equipment that is connected to its LAN ports. Instead, it allows that single cable modem IP to be assigned to connection #1 and everybody else gets nothing. Get the computer working through it, connect to the router as per the owners manual and turn on NAT or DHCP, whichever it offers. Reboot the computer and connect xbox and you should be good. This was probably not an issue with DSL because your DSL modem would supply up to about 10 IP addresses and they also passed through the router.

Try this:

Connect the modem to the router, and the router to the computer.

Pull the power cord out of the Modem.

Pull the power cord out of the Router.

Wait 10 seconds.

Plug in the modem, and wait untill all the lights go steady (ususally a minute or two)

Plug in the router.

Check your connection. Ask for more help if this doesn't work.

My Dynex 4 port router will not communicate with my DSL modem

Have your router clone the MAC Address of your computer. The MAC address is a hardware address on your network card and DSL providers seem to like to bind it to account. What is probably happening is when the router connects to your ISP and asks for an IP address, it looks up your account info and and decides - nope, wrong device. Cloning the MAC address will make them happy. If you are not able to clone the address, call your provider's tech support and ask them to clear the MAC address from your account. Make sure you have the router plugged into the modem and not the computer or you are back to where you started.

Need help with best connection type for college student in dorm

The enhaced version just give more range of signal over the normal dynex, regarding the internet provider it depends because sometimes you'll need a password and user to connect to the wireless signal. The dynex is used to connect from a cable signal (RJ-45)internet and then it will transfer the connection to wireless so it can be use from any laptop with wireless connection. So for example you DSL internet connection is a cable (RJ-45) then you connect that cable to the dynex router, then the router will automatically transmit the signal to wireless so any nearby pc can connect to it. If the laptop doesn't have wireless, then you'll have to buy a card to be able to connect to wireless signal or you could by also a (RJ-45 straight-through cable Cat 5e) to connect from one of the ports from the DYNEX to the laptop. Hope it helps.

Linksys router

unplug your DSL modem. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Make sure the router is connected to a DSL modem. Lately I have seen DSL modems connected to offices that are really routers. If thats the case it may not be talking because the DSL is address the gateway with the same address as the router.

The best way to test this is to see what happens when you disconnect your linksys router and type in http://192.168.0.1
in internet explorer.

If the DSL modem screen appears, it's configured as a router.

Then you will have to take the linksys router and turn it into a switch with a wireless access point. I

Dynex 4 port e401 router

Are you pushing a lot of data through the router for the few hours when it works? I've run into this with some routers where the router will just hang because I'm trying to push too much data through it and it's little CPU gets overwhelmed. Also make sure it's not overheating...that does the same thing.

To answer your question, routers do not have any built-in timer (at none that I have seen).
