BROTHER MFC 420CN WILL NOT PRINT FROM LAPTOP

Did you use non-Brother brand ink refills? If so, the print head is probably clogged. If that is the case, it's almost cheaper and easier to replace the printer itself. Sorry. I loved my MFC-210C until it quit, and the internet is full of people complaining about the whole MFC series. Going on 2 trouble free years with my Canon, better print, better optics, wireless, but no fax, unfortunately.

Use original cd for driver and repair the driver and if the problem will not be fixed i will be here ;)

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

I'd venture to say that if you haven't used it in a while the ink dried up and clogged the print head. It is probably a job for a service center. Good luck

try resetting the cartriges

If you have indeed cleaned the encoder strip, you might as another troubleshooting step check the alignment:

yes. you have to run the alignment feature. press ink - set - arrow-down til alignment. After alignment test print read the paper and choose the right setting by nr.

The print utility is accessed from the front panel menu button. The menu should be self explanatory.

Also check that the cartridge is pushed in fully so it's not sucking air through the system.

There is only a manual double sided printing avaiable:
After the first side was printed you have to turn the page into the papertray again.

Canon bubble jet printers can do double side printing but the back side black print will be mingled through C/Y/M ink!

do u get any errors while printing or what happens? If it just does not print at all... then have you tried reinstalling the browser that you are using... or try using a different browser application... let us know what happens so that we can solve the issue..
