There is a pulley that holds the belt tight (a tensioner) that usually is the culprit. Opening the dryer differs depending on which model you have. Most open by releasing the spring clips on the left and right sides of the front panel where the top meets the front. The top then tilts back, giving you access to the screws that hold the front on, so that it too can be removed. If these instructions don't quite work, post back with the model you have and ask for how to open it.

Once you have the front panel off you can get to the pulley (underneath everything).

It needs either a drop of oil on the axle, or if it is really worn, replacement. There are also two wheels at the back of the machine that the dryer drum rolls on that might be squeaking too.

its a pulley, not the belt. most likely the idler pulley. the bearings inside are going up not a hard piece to replace and the pulley is around twenty dollars at advanced auto parts

Loud squeaking noise when you start up the dryer could it be a bearing dull squeak not high pitched a little bit of a grind sound

It does sound like a bearing or at least a lack of lubrication. But it could also be belt slippage if it only happens at the start. If it is the bearing it would be continuous and slowly get louder and louder.

I would suggest putting new wiper blades on it or failing that have the screen cleaned as sometimes the cleaning stuff the valeters use can cause this annoying problem
Hope this helps

It sounds like an idler pully needs replaced. The bearings are going bad. It is not hard to do this, but more than likely that is what it is. You should also replace the belt.
