Denon AVR-5800 6.1 Channels Receiver

AVR-5800 issues

posted by bruteaudio on Sep 15, 2007

Display is out. Won't respond to remote. Won't pass audio. Not sure if audio is stopping before of after preamp section. Haven't got that far yet. I'm willing to bet there's a common thread between these three problems. Perhaps a processor or section of power supply. A service manual would get me a long way here but I'm having a hard time finding one.

Receiver powers on and off as should. Rail voltages are present at amp. No indication of protection being triggered. LED's on front pannel function and relays pick when changing inputs and functions.

Does the unit click when you press the power button on/off? If so, then the amplifier output transistors are shorted out.
