Question about RCA F27650 27" TV

1 Answer

NO POWER Hello, My Tv will not turn on completely. I took it apart and the fuse is still good and I can't find any discoloration in the circut board and the wires are good to go. There is no sound and no picture so I was thinking it has to do with power supply. If you can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, John

If the unit turns on then off quickly or there is a squeeling noise from the power supply (usually faint but noticable) there is a short and the switching powersupply is shutting on and off rapidly. Usually on RCA's the Horizontal output transistor and flyback go out on this model alot.

Hello, My Panasonic ct-36HL44 won't turn on. It's complestely dead. Yesterday and for the last 4 years---its been perfect, completely reliable. What happened? Is there a fuse inside the chassis and can I...

I had the exact same problem with this model a few months ago. Repairman came out to my house and told me that Panasonic is well aware of the problem but never issued a recall on it. He then charged me $150 to take off the back of the tv and replace a blown fuse with another fuse with a slightly higher voltage rating. Took him all of 5 minutes. He took off back of tv and the fuse is located, if you are standing at the back of the tv, on the bottom in the left hand corner. You can't miss it. I wish I could tell you which fuse he put in but I didnt see it. Sorry. Try it for yourself and you might be able to save $149.50, b/c I doubt that fuse cost much more then 50 cents. Good luck.

I too.
My fuse is good, I took the plunge and removed the 6 screws around the cabinet and 1 in back by the Video In jacks, pulled it back 8" and checked. Then I went further and disconnected everything (careful with the TV HV Rubber capped tension lead - it can kill you! and I found some board discoloration (heat) and tshot some more and found a bad transistor in the HORIZ OUT section. Mine is a TT2168 and I am looking for a replacement part now.

Typically when these fail, it is because of excess voltage or excesss heat. It gets kicked thru a coil, which gets kicked from another chip. I will let you know what I find out.

A magnet touched my screen

My son touched my television screen with a magnet in two spots leaving two discolored areas on the screen, purple and green in hue. I read many quick solutions to this problem on the net and none seemed to work completely,so what i did is took the same magnet that touched the screen and held it in my fist, then with TV on i waved my fist all around the screen working from the spots outward to the edges and this worked completely! Hope this helps someone..

Letterboxing: The top and bottom of the screen are cut off I originally obtained this TV from my Bro who passed away from cancer at age 31 a few years ago & I was never able to find out what he did with the manual. However, I was able to find a manual online but after viewing it, I still wasn't able to find the info. that I am trying to obtain for the correct settings to get rid of these black margins at the top & bottom of the screen. I am trying to find out what video output format is supported by this TV model, as far as the resolution and output format, specifically for a Cisco or AKA Scientific Atlanta 500GB HD-DVR through Cox cable? My available settings with Cox cable & the DVR I have( Cisco or Scientific Atlanta 500GB model)are the following-Resolution:480i, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480p standard, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic. or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480wide, with either output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic Resolution:720p wide, with output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic and finally, resolution:1080i wide with output format of:Stretch 4.3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic? Everything worked fine with the screen size when I had a 160GB Motorola HD-DVR with Cox under the video output settings of:resolution:480i and video output of:Zoom 16:9 Pic until, I grew tired of constantly running out of space & had them switch me to a 500GB HD-DVR. They were supposed to install another Motorola HD-DVR but just with 500GB version but when the Cox maintenance employee showed up to swap them out and install the 500GD HD-DVR, he only had a Cisco/Scientific Atlanta 500GB available on his truck, which is I guess what they use for the Contour service but he attached a filter to the back of the coxial cable to make it a regular HD-DVR without Contour(even though they tried charging me extra for contour for 3 months before I finally got that straightened out since the maintenance workers & billing dept. are often not on the same page as I found out at Cox. I have tried calling Cox for support & they say that I need to find out & know my TV's video output settings. I explained to them that it worked perfectly fine just weeks ago with 480i resolution and output format of Zoom 16.9 Pic before they switched to the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR from the Motorola DVR and that I didn't have the manual and I stated why and they basically said, too bad, figure it out yourself. Can someone please help me out? I have the TV set up for the correct zip code, cable box-Yes, the cable box output channel-video 1/Aux (since that is what the TV manual I read online said to use if you are using the 3-color coded cables instead of the coxial cables to plug in from the TV to the HD-DVR) & I have the Cable box remote control code set to code 008 (Scientific Atlanta) that I verified to be correct by checking it through the TV's automated code search. The serial # for the TV is:C306B2084 and the Chassis # is:ATC113BB1 and its the 27" RCA Entertainment Series Guide Plus Gold Gemstar that is X-Box ready. Thanks so much, Todd
