When i push the start button on my dryer, it beeps like the door is open and will not start but the door is not open

My dryer won't start. I took the thermal protector off and tested it and it did not have continuity. I replaced it and still have the same problem. The start button just clicks when i push it. The door button works. The timer is ticking???

Repair for Maytag Neptune Gas Dryer, Model MDG5500AWW, "no start" and "Code 8.8" problem.

If your dryer will not start when the start button is pushed, you may have a bad control board. Our dryer had an intermittent problem like this for several months. When pushing the start button a code 8.8 would show on the display and the dryer would not start.

Earlier today it finally quit all together and would not start. Examination of the control board revealed a leaking capacitor and overheated resistors. A replacement board (~ $165.00) fixed the problem.

The control board is located behind the display in the upper unit. Access is from the rear and the change out is quite easy.

Hope this helps!

If there is power at the start in those two places, check the voltage at the motor, some of these units have a thermal protector on them as well, they look like little round discs with two leads coming out of them. If you dont have continuity then its bad. Also its possible the motor windings are bad i would check the resistance on them as well. Let us know :-)

1997 Ford Ranger 2.3L Hard Start

I love my Rangers, and it sounds like you need a new starter drive, better know as the bendix. It is cheaper to buy a new starter. As far as the door locks, I would get the starter fixed first and the door lock problem may go away. sounds like the starter is dragging the power down and could cause a number of strange thing to happen. Hope I have help you solve your problem. I think It will.

Battery tested good but car will not crank over. power windows and door lock work but when i turn the key to ignition, nothing happens, no power seems to send to the starter.

Items to check in starter system: Ignition switch, neutral safety switch, starter relay, wire to starter.

Where ever B+ end is your problem.

Won't crank, relay good.

Fuse would be in the outside fuse box. Look for the one labeled starter. If you are not getting power to the starter, could be an ignition switch.

Is this a major fix should I have towed to dealer Taking out mortgage on my residence first.

Sounds like a weak driver's door lock/unlock actuator (rusted/oxidized) w/the trans clutch safety switch (Ignition Lock Switch) circuit8209a90.jpg
eeb47a1.jpg There is also the possibility the burglar alarm relay(starter kill) circuit is 'OPEN'. To check the starter solenoid circuit & starter, go to the U/H (under hood) Junction box and remove the starter relay. Jumper the starter solenoid circuit at the relay connections in the junction box 40a2524.jpg
Driver's power window problem could be the control switch itself, or the motor has stalled (if only stalled, a simple 'SHOCK' to the motor can get it working again). With the driver's door window switch held in up or down position (depending wether window is UP or DOWN), momentarily HIT the interior door panel at the arm rest 'INWARD' (not too much force... just a SHOCK) you don't want to break the door panel. If this doesn't work, you'll need to gain access to the motor & connector to see if power & ground are present at the window motor connector pins.3595015.jpg8bc893e.jpg
