Hello, Ask your local Mower shop if they show a Thermal switch for the PTO. You may have to replace it or move it away from the heat.

How to replace the broken pull rope

The link below will go over the process of replacing the rope on a briggs mower (process will be similar to your engine for basic idea)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iczCZaRiR0Q

If your starter is bolted to the fan cover it will be easy to remove the rewind and install the rope. If rewind is rivited to fan cover, pull off the fan cover or cut the rivets and then install new rivits (not enough space to use nut with bolt to hold rewind due to close proximity of flywheel). Post agan if you have other questions. Dont worry, easy repair.

If you think the rope pulls too easily the engine may not have enough compression. Consider doing a compression test or a leak-down test on the cylinder.

How to replace coil string

This is best done with two people. Remove cover, place down so you are viewing the rope pulley. Remove all old rope. Measure 8 foot of new rope. line up pulley rope hole with rope opening in cover. Wind rope pulley 6 turns. Push new rope thru both rope openings, one in pulley and one in cover. Pull rope thru pulley and cover. Tie knot in pulley end of rope, Slowely release rope so it rewinds onto pulley. Install hope handle, your done. was'nt that easy? You will have extra rope, this is needed to go from engine to handle support on your mower handle.

REPLACE PULL CORD

the part that's riveted to the motor isn't to come off. You need to take the flywheel cover off; that't the whole thing, and it's held on by 3 bolts. Once that's off, you can get to the nylon pulley. easiest way to do this, is to take the screw out of the center that holds the pulley in, gently lift the pulley out just enough to get a hold of the rope, thread it back through the hole, and put the pulley back in place. Then pull the rope all the way out, and hold the pulley once it's out. you can then either pull it out from the knot inside the retractor, or you can cut the knot off, and pull the rope out. now, you want to turn the pulley the same direction that the rope pulled it out, until it gets tight. Back it off enough that you line up the hole in the cover with the hole in the retractor where you knot the rope. push your new rope through, tie a knot in it, and take up the slack. now you can let go of the retractor, and let it pull the new rope in. when it's done, put the cover back on, measure out the new rope to end up at the holder on the handle, and cut it and put the handle on the rope.

Lawn mover will not start, was flipped over

The clicking noise may be the blade hitting the side of the mower or it was not put on properly. It needs a balance to the aluminum flywheel on top of the engine. The blade adapter and blade provide this balance for the engine to run.
Good Day.

Replacing the pull rope

The solution to this one is very tricky. You have to remove the shroud to access the inside of the spring return. Pull the rope out but make sure it is still attached to the spindle check to see if the return spring has broken. If it is then it will have to be replaced.

Pull rope snapped on my Yard Machines 4hp 22in push mower

There should be 3 -3/8 or 7/16" bolts on the side of mower (where the spark plug is, there should be one) the other two will be just opposit of the two. Remove bolts and housing should be free. You might to remove any cables to free up any slack.
