Prosport1000 -- belt slips as I begin to run or walk. Motor works fine and belt can reach max speed if I am not on it. Seems like I need to tighten the belt but I have lost all paperwork and manuals.

I have just had the same problem with my Proform 775. The pulley that drives the belt roller has shifted off of the splines. If yours is making a stripping sound this is likely the problem. This is a poor design since the two pulleys (motor and drive roller) do not align properly. I pried the pulley back into place and now it works although the drive belt is now at a slight angle between the pulleys. I am sure the pulley will not remain in alignment for long so I intend to glue it in some manor. I think a good low viscosity thread locker like Locktite 271 might prolong the fix or perhaps liquid super glue. The treadmill is long out of warranty and I have heard online that Proform's support is rather poor. The worst that can happen is I will have to replace the pulley but since a misalignment is the problem (poor quality control) it would likely happen again. By the way, although my unit is about 6 years old, a forced move had it in storage for most of that time. I doubt if the unit has 10 hours of actual use...

You should not adjustthese since they are preset. Tension can be affectedslightly by adjusting the tension of the walking belt but if you have a slippingproblem, the drive belt will require replacement. If yourdrive belt is too loose, it will slip on the front roller pulley or the motorpulley. If it is too tight, it will increase your amp draw to the point thatyou may have an electronics or motor problem. Due to this, it is better to beon the safe side and replace a drive belt rather than riskover tightening it. A drive belt is usually $29.99 or less while many parts youcan damage by over tightening can be more than $300.Additionally, too much tension can cause bearing failure in the motor and thefront roller and front roller pulley failure. It is better to err onhaving the belt a little too tight rather than too loose due to the possibilityof injury if the belt slips. Motor Belt Adjustment-Icon Units Do not remove any of themounting bolts to the motorthese repairs will require 2 9/16" wrenches andmayrequire two people to accomplish the repairs Before beginning this repair: Check to make certain that the drive belt requiresadjustment. Check out belt slipping instructions or with the motor cover removed, walk on the belt normally and try to stall the belt to make it slip. Be careful during this test. If theproblem is in the drive belt, eitherthe drive belt will stop when stalled or the front roller will stop whenstalled. If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when thewalking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on thefront roller. If the drive belt continues to turn but the frontroller stalls, you may have a broken front roller pulley. If You need further assistance, please reach me, sincerely. G-d Bless you.

My treadmill work fine when i turn it on but when i step on it the blet. slows down to crawl.

What make/model is the treadmill? What speed does this behavior occur? Does the walking belt slip, while the motor and rollers continue to turn? If the walking belt is slipping then the motor belt needs to be tightened. If the walking belt slows with your weight on it, does this happen at 1-3 mph and still occur at 4-5 mph? It could be your body weight causing it to slowdown, try to increase the speed to 4 or 5 and see if it still happens. If so, is the treadmill rated for your body weight? Please be more specific.

When i am walking on the band it seems as if i am slipping

This could be 1 of 3 things. Either the walking belt need to be tightened, or the rubber motor belt is slipping (under the front hood) or the pulley has come loose from the roller.
First tighten the walking belt using the allen key provided when you purchased the machine. Locate the 2 adjustment bolts at the back of the machine and tighten (clockwise) both bolts 1 turn. Retry the machine. If there is no noticeable difference, remove the hood and see if the rubber belt is slipping. If so tighten the belt by adjusting the motor.

My Proform 695 LT runs fine when Iam not on it but when I get on the machine it starts pausing in between running or even a slow walk

Unplug unit remove motor shroud then plug unit back in , press start and begin walking on the belt normally and try to stall the belt to make it slip ( planting foot to stop the belt).
Be careful during this test. If the problem is in the drive belt, either the drive belt will stop when stalled or the front roller will stop when stalled. Here is the procedure for adjusting the drive belt.
Find the motor mounts. Many motors in Icon treadmills have a main pivot joint in which a bolt runs the full length of the motor mount. This bolt will require loosening to provide maximum adjustability. Some models have a single jack bolt and others have an auto tensioner. Single jack bolts are the easiest to adjust.
Find the set bolt(s) on the motor. This is typically run through only one side of the motor mount or may be on both sides but it does not run the full length of the mounting. Loosen this bolt(s) but do not remove. Jack bolt models will have flat mounts and may contain up to four bolts.
Look for a bolt that will tension the motor. If it has this bolt, it typically runs in the same direction parallel with the drive and walking belts. If your treadmill is not equipped with this bolt, skip to Step 4. If your treadmill is equipped with this bolt (very few are) the repair will only require one person. Using 2 7/16" wrenches, make a few turns to this bolt, tighten the bolts and test your treadmill for slipping. If belt continues to slip, and if their is too much tension ( you should be able comfortably twist the drive belt 90 degrees ) then replace drive belt. If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when the walking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on the front roller, here the procedure adjusting the walking belt.
If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened
If the drive belt continues to turn but the front roller stalls, you may have a broken front roller pulley. If this is the problem, you will notice it because the plastic will usually make a loud squealing sound on the metal front roller. The front roller assembly will need to be replaced and the drive belt must be replaced also. We suggest replacing the drive belt as well because it is a low cost item and will most likely, have suffered unusual wear from the problem. Another possibility is that the drive belt has worn down. In some cases, belt dressing may help correct the problem. If not, the drive belt must be replaced.

Belt stops/slips

Sometimes tightening the belt is not the problem> What I would be doing is to get on the machine a determine which of the belt is actually slipping. What happens if the drive belt is glazed slippage occur no matter what you do. With the running belt you may have to it limits of adjustment and the belt can be stretched that no matter how you adjust it it will slip!!

Have a 4.9 treadmill and cant get it to adjust if i loosen bolts in back it slips if i tighten bolts on motor it quits pulling when i put weight on it can you help

Ok I really need more info but let's take a stab at it. The bolts in the back of the rear roller adjust the belt right and left. It also tightens and loosens. Ok there is also a drive belt from the motor that needs to be tight. Generally you should be able to twist the drive belt about 45 degrees. If it's more than that it probably needs to be tightened. If this is loose it will affect the walking belt the same as the walking belt being loose. So when your walking belt is slipping, make sure you tightened the right belt. Tightening the wrong belt can lead to other problems. Tightening the walk belt with the rear roller- turn both bolts clockwise equally to tighten. Remember the walking belt will travel to side with least tension. So to center belt, adj left or right side to fine tune. If belts are adjusted properly and machine stops when you walk on it, you have other issues. Could be the deck ( the board under the belt) and belt or the motor.

I tighten the screws behind the belt but it still slips as i walk

Sounds like the motor drive belt is slipping, remove the motor cover,be careful some models have hidden screws in recessed areas underneath if you remove the correct ones the hood comes off easily. There is a bracket that has a bolt to adjust the motor belt tension. Also if you tightened the walk belt up it may be too tight which could cause it to wear or tear easier, the rule of thumb is tighten the walk belt just tight enough so it doesn't slip.

Belt is slipping

This is caused by one of three problems. First and most likely, the walking belt is loose. To tighten the belt, start by locating the two bolts that adjust the rear roller (one on each side of the unit in the back). Run the unit at about 3 mph. Tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time. Make sure that what you do to one side, you MUST do to the other side or the belt will get off center. After you tighten it 1/4 turn, check the belt to see if it is still slipping. If it is then tighten the belt 1/4 turn again. Continue until the belt does not slip, but do not tighten the bolts more than 2 full turns. If it takes more than 2 turns then something else is the problem. The second problem that it could be is the drive belt might be loose. To tighten the drive belt, start by removing the front cover. loosen the bolts around the motor then tighten the drive belt by tightening the motor adjuster bolt. Once the drive belt is tight, tighten the motor back down. The third problem that it could be is the walking belt could be worn and need to be replaced. Let me know if you have any questions.
