When I go to type words in my laptop I get up and down black lines the hole way across

Make sure that you don't have any keys stuck on your keyboard. Maybe the lowercase "L" or even the key with the backward slash "\" (when the shift key is stuck, it looks like what you have described). You might also try to open a notepad, wordpad or Word document and see if the characters show up any different when typed. If you get the same thing, it could be that the display or keyboard needs to be replaced. Without physically being able to look at the laptop, it's hard to say. Hope that helps you some!

Please ,how can i type a back slash symbol

if you can't find the backslash on your keyboard, you can always use the so called ASCII code. It sound complicate, but it is simple: press and hold the left ALT key and press one at a time the following digits form the NUMERICAL KEYBOARD: 0 9 2 . Now release the ALT key and the backslash appears.

There is a code like that for all characters and digits oin the keyboard

What kind of information are you trying to enter? Try using only numbers and letters. Characters that may not be legal could be anything else, such as underscore _
dash - period . colon : semicolon ; slash / backslash \ and lots of others

HOW TO ENTER special character like é SYMBOL ON NOKIA

Inserting special characters on Nokia E61 and E70

The most common special characters can be inserted by pressing the 'Chr' key and selecting the one you want from the pop-up grid.
If there are rarer characters that you need, note that ANY Unicode character can be inserted by simply holding down 'Ctrl' and typing the number of the character concerned - it will appear at the current cursos position.

On some sites where a password or a payment amout is required, the box is too small and dashes enter instead of numbers

Are you using the numbers keypad on your keyboard, but you have not set NUM LOCK on? You get no characters or odd characters when you type this way.
Passwords usually do not display the actual characters in order to avoid prying eyes from learning what your password is. This is normal.
If you have trouble seeing very small text, and if you're using Vista, try the Accessibility Options or Ease of Access from the Control Panel. These allow you to selectively enlarge a certain area of the screen, or you may wish to change the resolution of your monitor in order to see less of a desktop, but larger text and icons. Try Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization->Adjust Screen Resolution.
If you would like to keep your high resolution but still have trouble reading small text, try the Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization->Personalization and change the font size from 96 to 120 DPI (dots per inch).
Good luck!
