Question about NEC MobilePro 900c Pocket PC

Device not detected

Hi, this is a follow-up question to the previous post on the device not being detected. I have downloaded the usb driver, installed microsoft activesync, and put in the usb cable. However, microsoft active sync still tells me that the device was not detected. It tells me to see if the Usb port is available, and it is available. When I go to help, it says that some computers have firewalls or other security measures which might interfere with the usb connection? What should I do next? I appreciate any help in this regard.

Hi. I assue that you are talking about the jingle in the mobile pro and not the connecting PC. The jingle is coming from the mobilepro and the icon pops up that connecting to host and there is a balloon message in the bottom right hand corner that shows and disappears after a few seconds.
There is no jingle or response from the Host PC.

  • abdullahasia Sep 18, 2007

I don't think it is the usb ports of the PC because they have been working and I have tried to connect to two PCs and it does not connect in both PCs. Also, how do you know if there is a problem with the cablle or the usb interface of the mobile pro? Lastly, I can't seem to turn on the mobilepro after I was testing it. THe green power light is on but it does not turn on.

  • abdullahasia Sep 18, 2007

Thanks, I figured it out. The mobilepro is turning on now.

I have windows xp. I tried connecting on another computer and this PC does jingle when I connect the USB. A message comes up that critical communications services have failed and restart your mobile device and try again. The balloon in the right hand corner changes from red to green and it says that you are connected. Does this mean that the usb interface on the mobile pro is not working properly?

Incorrect, computers have no security measures for USB. Plug the USB device in without ActiveSync running and listen for some sort of jingle and look for any information balloons in the bottom right. If it jingles and says "searching for drivers", your device is fine and Windows is finding it fine. In which case, it's going to be an ActiveSync configuration issue. If it jingles in a somewhat "uh-oh" tone and says "windows does not recognise this device", you're USB device's USB interface is faulty. If it does not jingle at all, you may have faulty USB ports. What would help would be to tell me your Operating System type. Windows...?

There should be some sort of response from the PC. Strange. Your USB ports may be faulty, or the USB interface of the mobilepro.

Take the battery out and put it back in, then try to turn it on.

ML 2240 printer not detected by Windows 7

Try installing it in safe mode.

To go to safe mode, do the following:

Restart and tap F8. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode with networking and hit enter. Install the driver from there and follow the on-screen instructions.

If no go, check the device manager of any question mark. There might be some outdated drivers that cause this problem. You can use RadarSync (free version) to scan your computer for outdated drivers.

After fixing all driver related issues, try installing the printer again.

I hope this helps!

Don't detect usb, malfunctioned, don't recognised

Did you reinstall from the Dell "System Restore" CDs that came with your computer, or from some "generic" XP CD-ROM?

Allow the web-page to "detect" your Dell "asset-key".
You'll be directed to a web-page containing downloadable "drivers" for your computer's USB-ports. Select, download, and Install those drivers.
