Have you checked the Jumper block settings. Its possible your drive is being limited by incorrect settings.

I have a HP Compaq d530 SFF with a 40 G hard drive. I want to upgrade to a hard drive of at least 80 G. Am I able to do this? Like to know also how much more RAM can I add I have 1.5 GBs now..

You can get a maximum of 4GB of ram.
Yes you can also upgrade your drive, probably to a lot larger than 80.

The following is a link to the manual that you can download, in PDF format, that has information on upgrading/adding both memory and hard disks for the HP d530 SFF. It has both diagrams and instructions.

Go to the "Hardware Upgrades" section.

I have failed to install ethernet driver after

your operating system should detect and install the drivers for your network controller if it is an internal on board LAN. however you must be sure that you have the LAN enabled in your BIOS setup under the advanced selection on the bios screen. otherwise , your operating system won't even see that you have a LAN connection.

Windows Xp Setup Problem : "setup cannot access the disk". I have HDD: Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 80GB ATA/133 HDD.

try doing a F disk on the hard drive first then format it and make it the active drive and then try installing the xp software. if it has had another operating system say for instance windows ME it will not install on that drive without removing it. You can also go to www.maxtor.com and download their free hard drive tools to see if there is a problem that thier software can fix. the software is for free.

I want change my hp compaq d530 sff pc hard disk 80gb

Just a case of plugging out the old one, and putting the new one in the same way. Then Installing an OS, and ofcourse any applications you require. If you want to change it, But retain your data exactly the way it is, You will need to install the new drive as a slave, Download a 3rd party application, Ie ghost2kpe, And do an exact disk mirror.

PC will not see Maxtor 80GB DiamondMax Plus 9 as seconary slave.

Hi,

Two thing,

First, never use a Maxtor HDD as a slave to a CDROM/DVD, doesn't work and tends to cause stability issues. So try swapping the jumper on the CD/DVD to slave and setting the Maxtor to Master, this should get it working.

Second, if it is showing up as 33GB, you have the Jumpers set to limit capacity(designed to avoid troubles on older systems. If this is the case, you likely have a single jumper in the center row of pins between the power and data cables. If it only works as master at the moment, then you likely have the neter row(limit size pins) and the one closest to the data cable(Master Pin) both plugged in.

Change your DVD/CD to slave, remove the limiting jumper and ensure the Master jumper is installed on the Maxtor, then be sure the end connector on the ATA(likely marked master) is plugged into the Maxtor and the middle connector(Slave) is plugged into the DVD/CD, this should have you all fixed up.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

How to install new hard drive

2 choices for you. Get the external to run the game or 2. Add a larger hdd to the system as a slave drive leaving the smaller drive as the master. If you go the 2nd route just make sure you buy a compatible hdd. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

No booting

The problem is Operating systems are co-dependent on hardware.
If the motherboards, processors, ram, video adapters, etc don't match you would not be able to swap hard drives and expect to boot.

You could try pressing F8 on boot and try to access safemode.

If it does boot into safemode immediately it will want to reactivate windows.(because of all the hardware changes.

If it still can't boot, you may want to put the 80 gig in as slave to the 40gig and ghost the 40 gg hard drive over to the 80.

If you don't want to lose your data on the 80 gig then reboot with an xppro cd and reinstall windows in the same partition overlaying the installation on top of existing windows directory.

the new windows will have to be activated but all data will still be there.
