Bottom freezer on Subzero refrigerator not thoroughly freezing

Ice cream is soupy, but some items are still frozen like hot dogs, frozen vegetables, and ice cubes.

Ice maker is not working either.

Why would some things be frozen and others not?

Ice cream needs to be kept colder than other stuff. Get a freezer thermometer, it's handy for the fridge too. Find and check your defrost timer. It's about the size of a cell phone, has about five wires going to it in one plug. On the back is a small dial that turns one way only. Mark it with white out and wait an hour to see if it moves. It moves real slow. If your freezer is frozen up and no air comes out of the coil area, you'll have to do a manual defrost of the freezer.

Freezer will not freeze ice ceam

Before you go any further it is important that you check for freezer temps. Yes, you have frozen items but remember that water freezes at 32 degrees and many items will get hard at that temp. And also remember that the lower the temp the longer frozen items will keep.

But ice cream needs proper freezer temps close to zero degrees. Use a digital thermostat and check for your freezer temp - bet it it is no where near zero. I had the same problem and attributed it to the fact that I was not using a name brand ice cream!!!! I was wrong ! LOL.

Why doesn't the ice cream freeze?

It depends upon which techniques you are using to make an ice cream.
If you are using a maker to make an ice cream then it will take hardly 30 to 45 minutes, not more then that.
For making a delicious ice cream right amount of ingredients should be added and should be mixed in a proper way, if it is not mixed in an appropriate manner then possibly you will not get the real taste that exactly you want.

Ice cream soft

Ice Cream is the hardest thing to freeze in a fridge /freezer unit , you need a least 0 deg F
to harden ice cream. If the ice cream was satisfactory before the repair and the stat is set to max. it is possible you have an over charger refrigeration circuit.

Some items in freezer are not frozen: bread, cool whip, etc. Meat and veggies ARE frozen. any idea?

This is normal for these particular items. They don't "seem" to be frozen but they are fine. If everything else is frozen that should be, like, ice cream, ice cubes, frozen vegetables, then you don't have a problem. Do make sure your freezer is not building up ice anywhere and that the door is completely shut when you close it.

Bottom freezer not keeping ice cream frozen

Check out freezer temp - should be around zero degrees. Fact that ice maker is still working would indicate that the temps are at least about 10 degrees. If the door seals are tight and the self defrosting mechanism is working properly, the unit may be low on refrigerant. I had similar situation where stuff was frozen but my ice cream was mushy even though unit was running 24 hours a day.

Ice cream is soupy & when I freeze it it becomes icy

Freeze the bowl for at least 24 hrs, rather than the 12 hrs the manual suggests - it will make all the difference in the world. For really thick ice cream, freeze the bowl for a day, and then put the ingredients in the freezer until the outer rim becomes frozen. Very delicious!

I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.
