Question about SkyScan 86709 Atomic Wall Clock

Want to set the clock

I am not sure of the model of my clock, but it is a SkyScan Atomic Wall Clock. It has LED for time, temperature indoors, temperature outdoors, date, and day of week. It also shows what phase the moon is in. There are four buttons on the back of the clock; the first is labeled "set", the second one "+", the third one "alm", and the fourth one "snz". I cannot find the instructions that came with the clock for setting it. When I started writing this I could not set any of the settings, but have just played with it some more and I think I have set the time, date, and day. (The time is actually 5 minutes behind, but I assume it will receive a signal from somewhere and will fix itself.) I am still not seeing an outside temp, but perhaps it is because I am too far away from the outside base. My remaining problem is that I do not know how I did the setting, and am afraid to touch anything for fear that I will mess it up again. I probably should tell you that the clock resets itself to the wrong time zone, too, but this time I saw EST and I hope it stayed on that.

My problem is the result of daylight savings time being delayed for one week. I tried to manully move the clock back one hour. The moment I place the clock back on the wall, it changes back to the previous settings...

We have model # 87700. We lost the outside temperature reading. We removed the batteries from the clock and the remote sensor for 30 min. Installed batteries clock and temperature appeared. Later the temperature reading disappeared. We went through the procedure again with the same results. What are we doing wrong?

can not get the out door temp to show since I changed the batteries

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2008

I have tried the same things that Mammie did; however i have just messed the whole thing up. The descriptin that she gave of her clock matches mine. I live in the central time zone and my clock has not reset itself. I've been trying since daylight saving time ended in my time zone. I don't know what my brand is. I also lost the directions that came with it. This is really frustrating because i depend upon it. It also wakes me up at 2:oo a.m. How do i turn off the alarm? I sure hope you can help.

Each time you press the set button on the back it selects one of the items that you can set. For example if the "month" is selected by pressing the "set" button then press the "+" key to change it from 1->2->3->4 etc. Each time you press "+" key the month will go up by one. Stop when you reach the correct month. You can do the same for each item including the time zone and daylight savings time and whether you want your temperature to be in Celcius or Farenheit. Hope this helps...

Change temperature from celcios to farenheght

There should be a button labeled "C/F" to change the temperature. I don't own that brand, so I'm not sure if it's on the transmitter or on the receiver unit. Here is a link to the owners manual:

Look carefully at the back of your clock for a reset button. The temp may have encountered a problem and stopped working. Also, be sure the battery is fresh. Hope this helps.

AI can't figure out how to set the atomic clock

This clock will set it's self in a 24 hour time frame. You need only set the time zone your in.

If it does not correct it;s self change walls and location in your house.

The transmitter is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. this station transmits the time codes and is best received at night.

Hope this tip helps.

My clock is nort showing up the outside tempertute

Seems to be a consistent problem with Skyscan. I have the 88800 model and my outdoor transmitter isn't transmitting the temperature either. We've replaced the batteries in both the transmitter and clock and nothing for outdoor temp. It's only been used for 9 months.

After replacing the transmitter batteries several times, I tried replacing the clock batteries. They must have been getting low. Once I put in new batteries in the clock it worked fine. Good Luck.

Also,

If you have lost the outside temperature on the clock display after replacing the transmitter battery then do the following:

1. Make sure you have good batteries installed in the remote transmitter
2. Remove the batteries from the main clock and keep them out until the clock display disappers.
3. Re-install the batteries in the clock.
4. Wait until the display returns and includes the outside temperature display as well.
5. Set the clock again for current time/date etc.
6. Bingo. You are in business.
