Replacing ignitor
if it's a bake igniter and you have the new igniter, empty the oven racks remove the floor and you'll be at the igniter, there might be a heat shield there just remove it but you want to see the igniter, before you go to remove the screws that hold the igniter in get a wet paper towel and wet them with water, the screws will turn right out, don't use anything else but water because when you go to heat up the oven it will burn off whatever you spray in there and the smell will be in the oven for a while, the water works great, the easiest way to do this is remove the screws if you have enough room to get at the wires on the igniter cut the old igniter wires as close to the body that you can, then get the new igniter line it up where it's gonna mount and then you want to cut the new wires long enough to tuck the wire nuts down into the hole where the tubes goes so the wire nuts are not up in the oven where the heat is,then cut the wires to the length you think is good, strip the wires and connect them with the ceramic wire nuts that come with the igniter, tuck the nuts down into the hole and mount the igniter, for safety reasons you can unplug the oven or flip the breaker but you don't have to shut the gas down, the igniter is what opens the gas valve,it's all electronic so you don't have to shut off the gas unless you want to,another way depending on your model you can remove the whole burner tube to change out the igniter, remove the bottom draw and you can get at the wires and at the tube to remove it but it's an easy job, just wet the nuts with the wet paper towel and you won't mess up the threads on them and if the wire nut doesn't tighten down undo the wires, rap them up together and with a pair of needlenose plyers bend the tip of the wires so the tip is fatter than the rest of wire and the ceramic nut should catch better, hope this helps you out and start the oven before you put the floor back, when you see the igniter start to glow it should ignite the flame within 10 to 20 seconds,if it doesn't lite before 40 seconds something else is wrong, you can check your old igniter,if it glows but doesn't ignite within 40 seconds it's bad, just because it glows doesn't mean it's good, when it pulls 3to 3.5 amps the gas valve opens and then the flame ignites.if you have any other questions let me know and good luck with your job,you can google it and find a video to show you.later
