Question about Heating & Cooling
Im told the orifice on my home furnace is dirty and i want to pull it out and clean it myself. The pilot light wont stay lit,and the flame is more yellow than blue.Ive changed the thermocouple already so im getting down to the root of the problem now.My question is: do I have to shut the gas off on the line coming to the furnace(large valve),or can I just shut the gas to off position on the pilot light switch?thanking you in advance,Patrick
You shut off the gas.
Shut off the power.
Remove the gas valve and burner assembly.
After cleaning and reassembly you must purge the system and use a gas leak detecting soap to verify no leaks before turning on the power.
