Hi! With the red know in one hand, push the spool down with th other to the female threaded shaft comes to the top. Then, hold the red know in the other hand with your index finger on the bolt in the middle, holding it down. Now start threading it onto the female shaft COUNTERCLOCKWISE! Once you get it, it get's easier. Good Luck!~Frank~

SOURCE: Ryobi RLT30CES

I also tried this.

  1. Clean the carb wire gauze air filter behind the roto-choke knob. (undo the nut/washers & long bolt)
  2. Deteremine if fuel is being fed to cylinder - Fully depress & prime the bulb about 7 times, turn to full choke. Pull start cord about 7 times. Remove spark plug see/smell fuel fumes/vapour present in cylinder
  3. Determine if compression is weak - remove plug, put finger over plug port, pull start cord. Should be evident of resistance/pressure build up when cord is pulled.
  4. Of course brand new plug!!! as above (I would try this first)
Hope this helps

SOURCE: My Ryobi PLT 2543 strimmer will run, but cuts out

I had this problem twice in the past. I solved it the first time by replacingthe plug and setting the plug gap with a feeler guage. The next time it was a decoke of the cylinder (squirting through the plug hole) replacing the plug and leaving it overnight and then cleaning the air filter. It runs like a dream and has worked in Australia, Europe and the UK with no further problems. Also the fule mix has to be just right, I actually use 22:1 instead of 25:1 and do not use any petrol / gas with additives in (like Shell).

Ryobi plt-2543y engine runs okay but head will not

Ken it sounds like the shaft isn't going in to the spigot on the engine. Make sure that the head is on properly and that the shaft is in the spigot itself. If there has been any movement with the head creeping down slightly the shaft will no longer go into it. Try and straighten the shaft slightly to give a couple of millimeters more to the shaft.

Starting up Ryobi Petrol Strimmer

full choke on , push petrol bubble 5 times then pull starter cord., with luck it will kick in to life after a 20/30 secs put on half choke , run again for 30 secs the no ckoke.

The main problem with Ryobi products is that they flood very very easly. So the more time you try and pump petrol into the carb the more it will flood . If that happenes then choke off and switch off and then just pull starter cord for about 30 secs then switch on and it could start if not prime it again as above good luck

What is the 2 stroke petrol mix for a garden strimmer, Ryobi 25cc PLT 2543 please?

hi there keithprobert

the ratio to use if using top quality 2 stroke oil is 50:1 that is 20 mills of 2 stroke oil per 1.0 litre of petrol that you mix.

but if not using top quality 2 stroke oil use ratio 25:1 that is 40 mills of 2stroke oil per 1.0 litre of petrol that you mix.

I've lost the user manual for my Ryobi 25cc RPT 2543c strimmer. Can you please advise where the dip stick is to check the oil. Can't seem to find it.

Ryobi RPT 2543c This is a 2 stroke engine, so no dipstick. You mix oil with the petrol (ratio 50:1) or 200ml of two stroke oil per litre of petrol, and that's how the engine is lubricated. Hope this helps, [email protected]

RLT30HT 30CC PETROL STRIMMER difficult to start

Hi,
The plug that I have in my 720r is a Champion RDJ7Y. Can I suggest that you pull the old plug out and look to see which one you have? Also when you buy the new replacement it should already be gapped for what you need.
Good luck!

I have a rhobi strimmer only 2 years old wont start

I presume this is a petrol one. The fuel can dry in the carby and stop the unit from starting. Use fresh petrol.
I am not sure about the ryoby unit, but if there is a air filter, take it out and dip it in petrol, then try to start with the normal proceedure in the manual.
