Question about Euro-Pro Cordless Bagless Upright Sweeper - Blue/Gray

2 Answers

My shark v1917 jammed on a throw rug, won't start.

Sucked up the corner of a throw rug and the machine quit. The brush turns freely by hand but when I turned it back on it won't rotate. The three red lights blink but no motor action. I can't find a reset button and did the "unjam" and wait 10 seconds, then turn it on and "it should run" but nothing happens. It's only been used 5 or 6 times and is fully charged. is it scrap?

Thanks for the info. I stuck it back on the charger and tried it this morning and it worked! Maybe somehow it used all the battery power or was overloaded when the rug corner was sucked up and the machine died, couldn't run. yay! Thanks for the input!

These machines do break VERY easy, however i would wait a couple of hours and try restarting it. If this does not work then i am sorry to say yes it is scrap.

Why won't my shark navigator cordless vacuum pick anything up?

Sometimes everything seems to be fine. The brushes turn, but if the brushes aren't cleaned of hair, rug tangles and so on, the brushes on the vaccum get filled and it won't puck up anything. ON THE OTHER HAND if the brushes are clean, did you check all your hoses from thr base of of vaccum where things get sucked up to the bin?

Shark SV736R motorized brush won't rotate

The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner. or the Motorized brush is clogged up. You have mentioned that it is cleaned, but still give a thorough inspection. For the metal pins, firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply.

The brush stopped revolving. I don't see anything blocking. It sucked up a corner of a rug for a split second but didn't pull anything off of the rug, ie, nothing from the rug is in there. Do these have...

Although I do not share the exact same model that you have, there is a belt in the one I own.
Checking it was pretty easy as the unit comes apart in a simple manner.
I do not know how your unit comes apart but look for screws or screw holes that hold the area in question together and remove.
The belt for my unit is tiny and somewhat hidden near the edge of the unit. The brush was powered by the suction of the vacuum using small paddles that caught the wind. If your unit has this then make sure the belt is still attached and whatever is powering the belt is operating properly.
Good Luck hope this helps.

The problem started when i sucked a corner of a rug,now it will not **** very much at all??Kenmore upright progressive

This definitely sounds like your belt is broken. The belt is the part that is attached to the motor at one end, and to the roller brush at the other end. If something gets vacuumed up into the brushes that prevents the brushes from spinning, the motor will continue to try to spin the belt, and the motor shaft will then burn right through the belt, or cause the belt to fall off the motor shaft, preventing the brushes from spinning. On an upright vacuum cleaner, if the brushes are not spinning, it will seem like the vacuum cleaner is not sucking well, but in fact the brushes are just not spinning.

To see if the belt is your problem, while the vacuum is plugged, in turn the machine upside down so that the brushes are facing upwards. Make sure that if your machine has a rug/ floor setting that it's set to carpet mode, and now turn the machine on. Does the brush spin? If no, then this is because the belt has either broken, or stretched out so much that it no longer can spin the brushes.

Here's a link to the owners manual for your Kenmore that will walk you through, step by step on how to to replace the belt.

I have also uploaded the instruction manual to the main page on Fixya for your Kenmore 34612.

I really hope this helped you. If it did, please help other people who have this vacuum be able to find this repair on Fixya by rating the repair helpful. You may do this by clicking the 4 thumbs up icons in the right hand corner of the repair. If you have any questions about how to replace the belt, or if the belt is ok and something else is wrong, please just use the clarification request form here on Fixya, and I'll be happy to answer any follow up questions that you may have.

Thanks again,

Beater bar sucked up corner of throw rug and now it doesn't turn.

Take the head down and clean the brush and when you put it back together it should be back in sync.

Bottom roller bush does not spin

Sounds as if the v-belt came off the idler arm or you broke the v-belt. Either way, take the 4 screws out of the plate around the roller brush and make certain the belt is there and that it sits on the idler wheel. If you remove the roller brush you'll see the wheel. Pay attention to how the ends of the roller brush go back into the vacuum when inserting it and put the plate back on. Also check the thicker main belt is in place as well, it's to the left of the v-belt.

Also, the roller brush should stop when you put it in the upright position. Next time just stand it upright so the throw rug doesn't get drawn quite so far into the vacuum.
