Bathtub jets don't work

The jets in our tub have stopped working. I don't know what kind of tub it is - there is no name on it anywhere. There is also no access panel so I can't get to the motor or plumbing. I don't even know whether it circulates air or water.

I do know that it's probably pretty old. The house was built in the 80s.

Can someone tell me where to start?

How do you turn the tub on/off? if it is a Logo that you touch when the tub is full of water you get in then it we need to know the model number off the box under the bathtub. it will have several wires coming out of it including a wire going to the pump.

The first step is to determine if the pump is working or not. Is there an external switch on the wall next to the tub? Can you hear the pump humming underneath? CHeck your fuse box to see if a breaker has been tripped.

I know those sound easy, but its always best to check the simple things first.

If you don't hear the pump running and its not the breaker, it has now become a bit more difficult project but still something any competent home owner can fix.

YOu have to access the electrical plug on the tub. It is 110v outlet that is underneath the tub on the same end as the switch or opposite the drain.

You needs to access the tub through the wall from the other side and check out that electrical connection. Could just be the the GFI switch thrown. If not then it cold be a bad pump or broken impeller.

For help if that's the case just post again as it is a length process.

I want to clean the jets in my tub they look mouldy

Cleaning your Tub
There are several options for cleaning the piping on a jetted bathtub.
The reason you have a residue on the bathtub surface when you are done bathing is because there is bacteria built up in the plumbing of the jetted tub. In order to remove that and reduce the amount of "yucky stuff" coming into the tub when using it, we recommend a regular usage of a jet cleaning product about once every couple of months
Here is a link at the bottom to the cleaning products I can find right now. There may be others out there that I am not aware of but I do know these products work well in all jetted bathtubs.

American standard jet bath tub black particles coming out of jets

The problem you are experiencing is common to many jetted bathtubs. It is a result of dried bathing water in the tub. There are a couple of solutions to resolve this ongoing problem.
  1. Use your tub more frequently as the water will not have time to fester in the pipes.
  2. Use a cleaning solution made for cleaning the pipes on jetted bathtubs once every three months.

check behind the access door for a air tube that goes from motor switch to button if either side has come off you have to re attach it just cut off 1/4 inch of the tube before you do. that will make it fit tighter
