Change the screen resolution in the Control Panel for the Display.

Click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. When the Display opens select the Settings Tab. Change the Resolution by setting it up higher, click Apply then click OK.

You could Right Click on an open area on your desktop and select Properties. When the Display opens select the Settings Tab. Change the Resolution by setting it up higher, click Apply, then click OK.

Flashing background

On a Windows 7 system, right-click on a blank area of the sceen, click on Personalise at bottom of menu and select whatever theme or picture you want as the background. It is slightly different for other windows system, but you should start with right-clicking on a blank part of the screen..

One wire runs up the left hand side and the other runs up the right hand side of ther screen and stick to the pieces od double sided copper in towards the top centre ot the screen. The position is not critical at all. As long as they are somewhere near, it is fine.

I can not set a desktop background

try getting in Control panel , click on Classic view from Left hand side top and you would see an option which says Display, click on that and you have desktop where you can select the background of your choice and click on apply.
Or else if you have any picture which you would like to make as background, make a right click on th epicture and you would see th eoption Set as Background, select and Background would be changed.

If we close the screen a little bit it goes bright white. Have to switch off and restart. Also, after doing a power point presentation the display is only opening about 80% of full screen with a black...

In LCD screens is a common problem that after setting a lower resolution than recommended you'll see a black stripe sometimes up and right, right click on any empty spot on your desktop and select properties then go to display options and move the resolution bar to a higher point and click apply also click yes in the warning display and accept.

I dropped my laptop and the screen is messed up

You can purchase just the display piece for replacement. It is tedious to take apart the whole laptop because the display is plugged into the motherboard at the bottom, but usually cheaper than replacing the whole computer. Instructions for replacing the display piece can be found on the manufactures website in PDF form. Displays can be also be purchased from the manufacturer but it is much cheaper to buy them from a highly rated seller on Ebay.

Display has 2 inch black stripe running vertically down screen

I have an IBM think pad that developed a 2 inch black strip on the left side of my dispaly. I tried restoring to a previous setting, I updated video drivers, I reset display properties. None of the above worked and am now thinking of formatting and reinstalling windows as a last hope unless someone has any other ideas.
