the first solution does not fiz the problem that the program apparently isn not being accessed. He said I should put in the twin needle. I do not want to have to change needles in order to do a simple zigzag which I have been able to do with 1 needle for the past 5 years. That does not answer why the program is not accessing different stitches and is only allowing the straight stitch...

I KNOW my machine is not made for only straight stitching !!!! I have been doing other stitches without changing needles for 5 years now. You are not answering the question. - WHY isn't it doing other stitches without changing needles? If I take the needles out, it still doesn't take the program.

I live in NJ near Phila. Do you know where can I get this repaired? Can I send for one and replace it myself?.

  • beth_max Apr 15, 2009

Exactly where in the manual does it tell how to troubleshoot the "Software".

  • beth_max Apr 15, 2009

E-Guru said to troubleshoot the software , see pg. 49 - CAN NOT BE DONE

He said switch to twin needles - NOT THE ANSWER TO QUESTION

he said read pg. 49 - NOT, AGAIN!

Is it possible to get a new board??? where?

Leave your machine unplugged for several days and it might fix itself. I had a similar problem....

My Euro-Pro Shark Model 9110 electronic sewing machine's thread jammed and the needle broke. I cleared the jam and replaced the needle, but the feed dogs wouldn't move (with most stitches), it wouldn't sew sideways (zig zag/monogram), and the speed adjustment wouldn't work. I tried turning it off/on and unplugging/plugging electrical cord and it still had the same problems.

I tested it the next day and it still had the same problems. So I left it unplugged. Several days later I plugged it back in and it worked perfectly! All the problems have been resolved.

U have a problem with the software or hardware for the stitch selection, most likely the control panel circuit board has failed.

Hi,

I checked with the user manual and found that with twin needles you can do Zig Zag stitiching. So your model is not only for straight stiching.

Please check page 49 of the manual.

Thanks

Have a nice day.

Help please. How to adjust presser foot. Where to chg stitch length

Please provide the make and model of your machine. There is generally no adjustment to the presser foot for selecting a straight stitch. You just need to use the specific presser foot that the owner's manual recommends for a straight stitch. The adjustment is made to the stitch length and stitch width selectors. But, since we don't know which machine you have, we can't help.

Stitch width knob

What's the model? Do you have the stitch selector set on straight stitch, or on a stitch with a width component, like a blind hem stitch?
Some machines consider straight stitch to be a zigzag stitch of width=0, while others have separate settings for a straight stitch and a zigzag (or other) stitch.

What model? Some only have straight stitch.

Straight stitch

Tension knob on any machine will be in the thread path and usually above the needle somewhere, while the stitch width and length knobs are usually on the right side of the machine. I cant identify your model but on any machine straight stitch is usually a length of 2.5 and width of 0, while a zigzag the width will be set somewhere between 2-4 depending on how wide you need it to be. There is usually a stitch selector of some sort too but many machines, providing the width is set to 0, you will get a straight stitch.

My Kenmore sewing machine model number is 17630, & when I try to set the stitch length from a Straight Stitch setting to a Straight STRETCH Stitch setting, there isn't any difference. I have the length...

Take a look at the stitch length dial. If you turn that dial counter clockwise (to about 7 o'clock), it will set to stretch stitch. Then all of the stretch stitch features will work. When you want to go back to straight stitching, just move that dial back to what ever stitch length you wish.

Sewing machine straight stitch is not straight

It sounds like it is making a blind stitch, does it look something like this? -----v-----v-----v-----v-----v If so it might be on the blind stitch setting instead of the straight stitch! ;-)
