Vizio 50 inch plasma -- remote not working

I changed the battery (bought new TV 2 months ago) but it still doesn't work. The TV set works fine if I manually turn on / off. Any idea what's going on?

In my case i dont think is the remote, because i have 2 other remotes  that  always work good with this TV, and non of them are working at this time. There's something wrong "inside the box".  Any Idea of what to do?

Same problem... TV does not respond to remote at all.

i have recently been the recipritant of the same problem with the remote. I have since, while trying to fix that problem, I ended up setting the tv in store demo mode. After hours on the phone with VIZIO and one of their outsource repair contractors, I took the remote to BEst Buy and found the remote was fine. So at this point looking at a IR sensor needs replacing to fix the remote problem, I hope that I can re-set the set to home mode.. smh..

You can also try to take out the batteries and push all of the buttons with the batteries out of the remote. Then put the batteries back in and push the power button on the remote. If this doesnt work press the two TV buttons at the same time and the remote should be fine.

Thanks to sChadwell for his resourceful help. I took the batteries out of the remotes and pressed all of the buttons up and down and VIOLA!, everything worked liked normal. I work in electronics and remember years ago that Microprocessors have little nervous break downs and that, If you unplug and go over the controls of what ever it is you are try to fix;THIS IDEA WORKS!!!!Thanks for your input as you reminded me of something I had forgotten Years ago.

Our Vizio remote control quit working properly - only certain buttons would work. I replaced the batteries and nothing changed. My husband took the batteries out completely and left them out overnight. When he put the batteries back in the remote control was back to its old self and has been working fine ever since. Try this.

Reset the remote control and the TV at the same time and this may work. Step 1; First unplug the TV from the wall/surge protector. Wait 5 Min. while your wait here is step 2; You take the batteries out of the remote>then press down on every button 2 Times>replace the batteries in the remote, after the 5min. go ahead and plug the TV in and try it again. If this does not work then you need a new remote control.

Our remote died to our Vizio ....checked batteries, etc...have been having problems for a while...bought a new universal Vizio remote...keyed in all the numbers....last four work...but still is not...

New TVs and older ones, even recent model changes usually have different codes. Read the new remote closely. there is a section about finding the code manually. It is a pain, but works.

I bought a brand new 42 inch plasma vi vo tv 2

New products do fail. The set should certainly be under warranty. I would speak to the dealer you purchased the unit from and see what they suggest. Don't remove the rear cover, or do anything else to give anyone a reason to void your warranty. Most brands are 90 days on parts and labor.

Vizio remote control not working

Hi, I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.

I’m happy to help further over the phone at
