HOW TO FIX ANYTHING! When it comes to fixing anything, especially electronics an appliances, there are only three simple rules to follow. 1. Clean: Just a little bit of cleaning will get 90% of your problems fixed and your unit up and running again! 2. Government safety features: In this decade of panic the government has installed all manners of safety features, that if reapplied will also help getting most problems fixed! 3. Repair manuals: If all else fails, purchase a repair manual. If you have a problem looking it up on-line will only show you 50 million other people with the same problem. Instead go on-line and find a repair manual for your specific appliance, etc. Good Luck!

Dishwasher not working

The timer has failed, that is not simple, unless you are good at appliance repair.

Sounds like the brush is stuck. When that happens the belt continues to run, quickly burning up. Take the brush out and clean both ends(bearings) and check that something is keeping the brush from turning. It's a fifteen minute procedure, and to save time pick up a belt or three (usually come 2+ in a bag) and you'll be ready.

No backlight

Well, you know what your problem is. What is the question? Can it be fixed? Yes. What will it take do fix it? Good question. A lot of folks come here with the same problem, have replaced 1, 2 , or 3 boards in the unit only to still have their original problem, or better yet, now have a new one. My recommendation to folks who are not electronics technicians is to either take the set to someone who is, or buy a new set. TVs today have a 3-6 year life more. Repairs are often more costly than replacement. Manufacturers aren't building TVs and appliances as "durable goods" anymore. They design them to last out the warranty. Then they can sell you a new one. They justify the higher costs by installing tons of bells and whistles (water & ice in the door, digital thermometers, all things that will fail and don't do anything to really make the appliance better).

Hi Ihave an electrolux EWD 1477 washer/ dryer. It keeps showing up an error E90 and starts beeping and stops working? Any ideas how to fix it ? Thanks kindly

E90 is family error code visible to the customers. It is necessary to read the error in the service mode so please proceed with the following procedure for rapid reading of alarm codes:
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and the option button nearest to the START/PAUSE button for at least two seconds!
After that the display will show one of the following errors that are more precise:
E91, E92 - Communication incongruence between main board and display board (versions not compatible). Posible causes: wirings, main board or control/disply board.
E93 - Incorrect configuration of appliance. Posible causes: Incorrect configuration data; electronic board faulty.
E94 - Incorrect configuration of washing cycle.
Posible causes: Incorrect configuration data; electronic board faulty.
E95 - Communication error between microprocessor and
EEPROM. Posible causes: Electronic board faulty.
E97 - Incongruence between programme selector and
cycle configuration. Posible causes: Faulty electronic board (Wrong configuration data).
Considering that this is a complicated fault, my advice is to contact an authorized service center. They have special equipment such as an interface that allows them to upgrade software in your appliance. If you are not doing anything on the appliance before the failure, the only thing you can check is the contacts between wiring and electronics.

How can I get the LCD to turn on?

The Display button toggles the information shown on the LCD (or turns it off entirely). Make sure you haven't inadvertently pressed it and turned off the display. It works as follows:

  • Press once for Normal view in LCD viewfinder
  • Press twice to turn on Rule of Thirds grid lines
  • Press three times to turn off LCD display
  • Press and hold 1 sec. to decrease/increase LCD brightness

You have to take the front grill from off the set to get to the switches on the front. You will need to spray the switches with electronic contact cleaner to clean them. Especially the menu switch. Squirt them and work them with your finger to loosen the dirt. If this does not fix the problem you will have to change the switches (especially the menu) which requires unsoldering and soldering in new ones.

There is a buzzing sound coming from my fan, how do i fix it?

Hi, Try to clean the fan with a compressed air can, if the fan works most of the time this helps and you will not need to take anything apart, just pick up one at your local electronic store, follow the instruction on the can and spray the air ways starting with the openning under your fan, start SLOW and gradually increase the air flow and be careful not to let the air pressure break the fan fins by sudden changes in the air flow... Good Luck

After deleting photos from the memory card, it now says "card not initialized", when put back into the camera, none of the functions seem to fix it, can you help?

If your pics are safely on your computer, follow these rules: 1. Never erase pics using the computer...always use the camera. 2. Never remove anything from the computer USB ports without using the "safely remove hardware" function. 3. Now, your card needs to be formatted in the camera.

Vizio hdtv 32 inch wont come on.

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. Or, it maybe something simple like a blown fuse inside the TV. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light blinking codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
