Question about RAD Data Communications RAD RIC E3/ETH (RIC-E3/ETH) Bridge

RAD AIRMUX 200 NO Communication

I have 2 pairs of these units. The indicator lamps around the "ODU" jack on the IDU will come on for 1 second then off for 3. The "ODU" lamp on the front never lights. No tones from the ODU. The airmux 200 manager never connects. Both pairs do the same thing. Any ideas?

You didn't say what rev. level you have, but if they were manufactured after 2006, your problem is most likely a lost SNMP read/write community string. The default read/write community string is 'netman', and the read only community string is 'public'. When attempting to connect to the ODU with Airmux Manager, type in the username and password but before clicking OK, click on the Options button which will expand the login dialog window. There you can enter the default read/write community string 'netman' (assuming someone hasn't changed it). If that doesn't work, you can contact RAD tech support who can generate a new community string with the MAC address from your ODUs.

Look for the lines that run through the wall out to the outdoor unit. Turn off the power and then check the electrical connections at the outdoor unit. Inspect for broken wires. If no broken wires, remove the wires one wire at a time and then re-land the wire and tighten. Check for proper operation after performing this operation at both the indoor and outdoor unit.

Airmux 200

Depending on the current rev. of software you have in your Airmux, you may have to upgrade to an interim rev. before upgrading to the latest. I have successfully upgraded some of the very oldest Airmux's dating back to 2005 with the latest software (1.750 and above) by first upgrading to version 1.300 reboot the units, then version 1.500 followed by another reboot, and then finally version 1.750 followed by another reboot. The reason for the reboots in betwen version uploads is that when you load a new version of software to an Airmux, the new version is copied into temporary flash ram. When you reboot, the Airmux sees a new (valid) version of software and will load it. Hope this solves your problem. Incidentally, you can get the software from RAD tech support.
